Hello everyone,

I am new here on forum and kinda new in this poker real money world. So, lets get to the point. I deposited 20$ on PS for the second time this year. My main problem is that I can't decide whether to play these microstakes 0.01/0.02 cash games or these low buyin SnGs.
In the past, I mostly played SnGs, because I didn't want to lose more than buyin, but then I started playing cash games, got some ups and downs and finished with 0$.
I know that you all considered these two when you were starting, so I would really appreciate if you write about it and help me get a good start.

P.S.
Yes, I did google this already, but still I want to hear more opinions.

Start with $0.10-0.25 SnG. Small buy-ins and long game. Gain experience. When you are able to reach the prizes in 50% games, go higher.

When i first started I had no patience to sit in long games and wanted my Bank roll increase quick...this was a big mistake but If I could do it again I would start slow with very small stakes, SnG and mtt. Play , play, play till You gain enough experience to go higher. Stay away from cash games, heads up , zoom, etc. If you want thrill and excitement go for it but if you want to learn the game and want to advance, take your time. Good luck.

you probably want to stick with SnG's with buyins = bankroll/100. So I wouldn't play in SnG's with buyins more than .20 if I was serious about bankroll management. If I'm just having fun and don't care, well, I'd play the highest buy-in tourney I could find.

100 buy-ins should be enough for you to beat variance; that is, if you do have an edge in the game (i.e. you are playing your cards and opponents correctly).

I was thinking about 50-60 buy-ins, would that be too much?

if it were me, it would depend on which site i was deposit at, U.S. restricted. Carbon seems like the best deposit option for me. so 20 bux at Carbon, would have me playing $1.10 mtt freeze-out, and the $1.10 SnG. I'm gonna get 18 shots with my 20 bux. if i bust , then i gotta try again. poker lessons are free, poker experience costs money

Play what you like most. That said it is real easy to beat low buy in sit n go's, just by playing tight until you near the bubble. Decisions are simpler, and it is easy to multi table when you almost never face any really tough spots.

Personally I would play some of both, using the sng profits to off set any cash game losses if I run bad. Just don't play a cash game while playing a sit n go. For me, it is a losing proposition.

50-60 USD buyin? sounds like huge amount for me unless you are a really skilled poker player.

I think that SnG with small buy-ins would be perfect for you. Patience and gaining the experience, and you'll boost your fortune very soon :)

Cash....and get out of .1/.2 and .2/.4 as soon as you can. At least at .5/.10 NL you can play a form or poker, not bingo (like the lowest limits where everyone is in the pool, stakes are low, your tools are taken away from you).

Watch some videos about cash games micro stakes and then decide what do you like to play. You could try both cash games and SnG and see. The thing is if you run bad few days at cash games(losing 90% of the hands you play) you could lose your bankroll very fast(it happened to me many times). I advice you to grind cash games when you have around 40$.

I would recommend the $0.25 or $0.50 sng and slowly grinding up your way level by level.

Bankroll maintenance

If i have a $20 in my bankroll, how is the best strategy to spend it? Tournaments or SNG with 0.50 buy in its a good idea?

It depends on what your bankroll goals are. Is this a bankroll you cannot afford to ever lose, or are you willing to take risks knowing that you might have to reload?

$.50 SNGs would give you 40 buyins, which is reasonable if the SNGs are single table. For MTTs, 40 buyins is nowhere near enough, even for aggressive BRM.

if you deposit $ 20 on Full Tilt or pokerstars you earn 100% bonus and some tickts for mtt and sng tournaments ... depending on your skill at the table games cash micro 0.01 / 0.02 are more polls to form bankroll , practice a lot in the freerolls , I especially have more in full tilt ability but test all platforms indicated here in cc and good luck

I think $ 0.10 and $ 0.25 are good options to start and gain experience. You will have the ability to play approximately 140 tournament to play $ 10 in tournament $ 0.25 and $ 10 tournaments of $ 0.10 . If your bankroll is increasing , you may consider playing the $ 0.50 .

One dollar sng makes sense. If you can't beat that game, you should work on your skills more.
