Most players starting out play in freerolsl or in freebys. While this is a good way to cut your teeth and learn the rudiments of the game, give the free entries a miss as soon as you have learned enough. Although there are very good players taking part, there are others who just haven't a clue, and you may think that this is the standard to follow and develop bad and sloppy habits. Play with your own money as soon as you feel comfortable with your game. There is a big psychological difference when your own cash is on the line.

Still think you should do like Drake and start from the bottom and work your way up.

Allow me to disagree. All games should be treated equally. Should not have such thoughts: "And it's a Freeroll, I risk nothing, do push with 8-4o". freerolls will not give you money, but they teach very important. It is a discipline. If you learn to restrain yourself in freerolls, you will be easier to play correctly in all competitions.

I believe that freerolls are very useful for beginning players.

I think you should rank high up in one of the freerolls because money is relative. For some 200$ entry is peanuts and they are not 100% focused. Find those tables, identify the players and cash in. But I agree - start with nothing and try to win a freeroll.

I agree 100%. Freerolls are a great way to get in touch with the software and the game itself if you are a total beginner but for anyone else they are just a waste of time. Most people there are totally clueless and not playing the game, instead they are just trying to double up with rubbish, relying on luck with a style that would be suicidal in real games.

I know that some people like to play freerolls and that's fine. Some might be even winning money with them. However, most of the time the prize is so small that it doesn't really compare to the time and effort that is used to play that. If someone is winning frequently in freerolls, they should already try bigger games with real money at stake. The sooner, the better because that's where the actual money is made, not in freerolls.
