Hi all ,
Just been reading a bit about spr.
I have just discovered it....lol.
(how much is there to learn in this game ?).
Anyway , some where saying it's not really important
and others said it is .
The article was for cash games , but I want to know how it affects tourny's and sng's.
I'm gonna read up about it , but I thought I ask here for
peeps thoughts , or any good links.
Thanks.

In tourneys and SnGs the spr is typically always in the low region. Its kinda rare to encounter SPR's higher than ten unless its a rebuy or something.

But to answer your question, there's not much difference. You might decrease the SPR required to be committed due to ICM reasons, but that effect would likely be small in most situations.

I play mostly STTs these days, and this is always on my mind when I'm involved in a hand. Basically, do I want villain to feel he is pot-committed if he continues in the hand, or do I want to leave him room that he feels he can call/fold to a later bet? Same situation when I'm the one calling. Always asking myself if calling on this street will commit me to going to showdown, or if I have room to get away from the hand on later streets.

SPR is all about making play easier for you post flop and creating situations where your opponents make substantial errors. It allows you to plan a hand well in advance, thus removing the pressure of big decisions with marginal hands. Even approximating spr can help you play better.
