Hi all, i have a few questions regarding some preflop strategies.. more specifically when to go all in and when to wait to see a flop.. and how much to raise with a good hand

For example if i have AK suited or QK suited or even off suited, is it wrong to go all in at an 8-9 handed table?

What hands are strictly good for going all in preflop?

What hands should i raise significantly preflop and go from there?

Is it normal or even recommended to go all in with pocket aces, kings or queens?

I was playin a bunch of freeroll tourneys today and was finding myself wondering these things...

I feel like once i get past the flop, i can calculate the odds and bets more consistently. Thanks for reading.. Take care:)

Proper preflop strategy in tourneys is totally dependent on your stack size and the stack sizes of your opponents. Generally speaking:

Short stack of <15 big blinds, I'm playing shove or fold preflop. This will depend on my position and the stack sizes of the remaining players. The later my position, the wider I shove.

Medium stack of 15-25 big blinds, I'm raising 3x the big blind or folding preflop. My range will again depend on my stack size, my opponents' stack sizes, and my position.

Big stack of 25+ big blinds, I'm again raising 3x the big blind or folding preflop. My range will again depend on my stack size, my opponents' stack sizes, and my position. I'll open slightly looser than with a medium stack though.

I don't think going all-in is a good play in tournaments unless:
-you are shortstack (less than 10bb) and you are first to act
-you are 3betting to a previous raise with your top range in a heads-up spot and your 3bet means putting more than 10% of your stack in the pot
-you are in the middle or bubble phase and you are stealing from position with a good holding or re-stealing from SB or BB with a good holding.

Other than those I would not put all my chips in the pot PF. Especially if you hold good cards better try to build the pot postflop than going all in preflop.
