I'm a beginner but devote enough effort to learn the game study my strategies and work on improving my game, playing NL 10 I'm missing overwhelmingly but when I play the freeroll tournaments or micro'm getting good profits then not happening if I am applying my strategies well.

All I can say is keep on practicing don't give up. Even sometimes people give you advice on how to play. just like in life some advice works for others and that it doesn't work for others.

I would tell you that you should continue practicing and that it is good to study and use game strategies ... but you must be very aware that poker is played by human beings and everyone plays differently ... that is why you should pay close attention to reading of your opponents when you are playing ... and then determine the strategy to follow ...

You need to watch web videos and read books. There is so much information out there that will show you the holes in your game. Nobody can really teach you what type of game is right for you. Studying is the only way besides hiring a coach.

As everyone else said -- yes, keep practicing. I would think that maybe you are coming up against better & tougher players who can read your hesitancy on NL10. Whereas on freerolls & micros, your playing style may be more aggressive because there is less to lose.

NL10 and freerolls are very different games, different strategies required.
Your BRM should include a learning curve (cost) for any new game type.

Hi
I joined the Jonathan Little poker training site. Not expensive and I have seen a big improvement in my game. Unfortunately, if you follow the advice in books/sites etc to the letter, I find in microstakes, it does not work too well. You have to take the training/advice you get and adapt it to the game you are playing. Microstakes is full of people who don’t play by “the rules” so you tend not to do well following the script exactly. You have to adapt what you know and make it work for each situation. Once I realised that, I tended to win more. Probably still -ev at the moment but I’m getting there. Good luck.
