Just finished an interesting book
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Peak-Performance-Poker-Revolutionizing-View/dp/0984143483"]Peak Performance Poker: Revolutionizing the Way You View the Game: Travis Steffen: 9780984143481: Amazon.com: Books[/ame]

have some questions or concept to know based on the book.

the book is about how to maintain A game, and treat poker as a sports.

the first concept is called "flow" , it is hard for none-sport game-profession like me to clearly understand what is called flow, my understanding is like a cycle. So what is clearly the meaning of "Flow"?

the second one is regarding the quick mental recovery between session. it does not refer any information but just notified, it is important to make the mental recovery between each session. Think without methods suggested, any one know what is the possible mental recovery methods , athletes use during the game break?

the third question is keep the length of time, but since I play cash games, sometimes it is hard for me to leave the table based on timer. therefore the schedule to make in advance is in vain, how to make the flexible playing time for "leather ass" who wants to stick some more time at the table from time to time?

thank you in advance.:D

This is one of the books I haven't read yet but is on my list of stuff to do and residing in my poker folder on my kindle. I'll try and read it over the next few weeks so I can respond. It looks like it may be along the lines of The mental game of poker or Poker Hero though.

I think what he means by flow is that you are just feeling your plays. Everything is flowing smoothly and you're making the right plays and everything is coming together nicely.

I think one of the biggest things to do for a mental recovery is to just get out and take a walk. Take deep breaths and find something to take your mind off of the cards.

I don't think you should necessarily stick to a time of playing. Some days you will play more than others, especially those days that you are running hot. Be careful on those days that you are losing though. Don't play too long when you are making bad plays and you just aren't mentally there. Definitely not a profitable move. Just be flexible with your time at the tables.

I read the first chapter last night. Flow is quite straight forward. It's when you've memorised a situation well enough for it to become automatic. A bit like riding a bike. Someone said sometime that if you do something half a million times you become an expert at it. That's flow. My own way of looking at it is to memorise a strategy so that it becomes automatic. I have used memory palaces to memorise multiple strategies so that I automatically know what to do in various situations. An example would be starting hands. If you memorised a set of starting hands well enough to know automatically. You could then learn how these starting hands in certain positions are affected by players in front and behind you etc until that becomes automatic too. Then you could move onto how different flops hit or miss your starting hands... opponent ranges etc...

I found it finally

from Wiki...with the help of a psychology major friend of friend from Facebook.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flow_(psychology)

In positive psychology, Flow, also known as Zone, is the mental state of operation in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity. In essence, flow is characterized by complete absorption in what one does. Named by Mihály Csíkszentmihályi, the concept has been widely referenced across a variety of fields, though has existed for thousands of years in other guises, notably in some eastern religions.[
