Hi all,
Hope everyone is well . I've never played poker at all so before I joined the CC community, I had to get myself upto scratch with all the poker terms & jargon used + BR management, plus I have saw lots of videos of how to play the game, etiquette and all that. I really enjoyed watching the Poker After Dark series on the net.

I was hoping I could start playing live cash games like £0.50/£1 and then onto £1/£2 and hoping to exploit the soft nature of those live games v in comparison to online (harder grind) to build my bankroll of few grand, but as a beginner im not too sure if it will all fare well for my bankroll. I have read alot on good BR management skills. The live Mtt's are pretty much out of my thinking due to variance and higher buy in's v online mtt's. So that brings my onto the online cash games and sng's with once in a while mtt's. Obviously im not looking to make a killing so to speak on all three fronts but im trying to choose from low stakes (not microstakes-they call with anything as ive heard) cash games and sit n goes with the odd mtt here and there. I was wondering which of the two (cash v tournaments) is the hardest for a newbie to learn and adjust to as well as wanting to advance through the levels. Ive read somewhere that its easier for a cash game player to adjust to tournaments than the other way round. Im also concerned about the integrity of the game involving collusion, bots etc and how much really of a help is it to purchase some good poker software such as HEM or Poker Tracker for a beginner to grind out a small/medium profit every month.

Thanks alot, hope to hear from as many people as possible to share some of their experiences.:)

Live I have found softer but doesnt mean you couldnt lose your roll at that level but my life experience tends to be tournament based.

Online, the best thing I can say to you is find a site with traffic for the game you want to play. Before you do this research what reward you can get from each site and how to max it.

For example-

pokerstars has first deposit bonus, would you like to have this while your learning or get it while you crushing and it adds some money to your roll.

Some sites have rakeback and maybe some extra little things here and there as well as your deposit bonus. Some of these sites it is a pain in the arse to withdraw from.

Before you sign up to any site research the best possible bonus you can get. For example Cards Chat do some monthly freerolls for depositors.

DO NOT go signing up for site A and B and C because when you get competant enough you may have closed extra revenue open to you. Many people went without fulltilt rakeback just because they signed up with the wrong site.

Anyway, the advice I wish I could follow is get the maths right and stay abc at first but dont become a strictly abc player which is no help at all I know.
