I'm thinking 20 sng buyins and 50 mtt buyins...but that's just my guess.
There are BR articles at Cardschat to read.

^^^ What D said. It varies depending on your particular BRM strategy, but according to the Ferguson Strategy it's no more than 5% on SnG or Cash game and no more than 2% on MTT's. Also in a cash game he says to leave when the blinds get to you if the total amount of cash in front of you = 10% of your roll.

u never want to risk more than 10% of your bankroll in any game whether it is a SnG or a MTT. I learned this the hard way since I was trying to build up my bankroll from 0 but fell in the trap of trying to double my money or trying to make my bankroll grow too quickly and going broke.

BR Ratio

What is the ratio between bankroll and buyin?

I think the common theory is to have a 40 to 1 BR ration. Therefore not to have to play tight money which will affect your game.

What is the ratio between bankroll and buyin?

In atricles I have read the basis was;
1% of your bankroll for MTT.

I didn't read something about SNG, but I think it must be something like 2% of your bankroll.

Btw, for cashgames it's 5% of your bankroll.

It completely depends on the person. I personally play cash with 35-70 buy ins, i'd play mtts with about 100-200 buy ins and i'd play sngs w/ 50-100 buy ins (i don't actually play sngs/mtts anymore tho).

But it depends alot on the stakes you play. I play nl100 cash and for me i need to be well rolled just to be able to stand the swings. I played nl25 w/ slightly less than 20 buy ins, because i knew it was incredibly easy to beat and because the money didn't mean as much to me. I started nl50 when i hit exactly 20 buys ins, but i waited alot more before i moved to nl100. I will wait even more before i move to nl200 (at least 50 buy ins.) When i was playing micro sngs, i also played w/ something like 20-30 buy ins, because again they are easy to beat and the swings are easier to take because it is less money.

So you have to decide for yourself. Basically the higher the variance, the less % of your roll you should be playing with at any given time. Mtts then sngs then cash is the order from higher to lower variance.
