Hey guys, as you may have seen in my previous thread (https://www.cardschat.com/forum/learning-poker-57/group-study-session-wed-may-4th-196859/), I host a weekly SnG study session. Today, we completed a group session on bubble and ICM analysis. I am having another session next Wednesday, May 11th at 12:00pm (EST or GMT -5).

The plan right now is to discuss post flop play in the early and mid game stages of SnGs. While the majority of profits come from proper bubble play, it is also important that you are not leaking chips in the early going and also getting maximum value for your made hands. We will be discussing board texture, pot control, proper bet sizing, steals/re-steals, c-bets, and other post flop play strategies.

If you are interested in being a part of the study session, just PM me or send a contact request on Skype. Also, I started this new thread because I will be hosting this session every Wednesday, so I will just keep adding to this thread each week to provide any updates.

Read your last thread. Can't believe this. Apart from Skype what other stuff do I need?
How many people are you looking to get also (try posting in the tournament section if you need to increase attendance).

Just finished a FOUR HOUR SESSION with Clint. Any SNG play who isn't doing this is seriously missing out. Went through lots of spots, key information, ideas and basically it was sick.
Highly recommended (can't wait for next week).

Haha, thanks. I gotta say, today went a little long. I would say normal sessions take between 1 and 2 hours. But we had close to 20 people in the session which was great. I did not want to cut it short because I wanted to get through everything, so I hope everyone took away a few helpful tips and strategies.

Over the past 2 weeks, I covered ICM/bubble strategy and post flop play. I will be having another session next Wednesday at 12pm EST. The consensus from the group about the next session topic was to review full SNG games in the replayer. So we will be analyzing every part of the SNG, from the early game to ITM and heads up play. I will try to get through several full games ranging from 9 mans through the 45 man SNGs.

If you are interested in joining in the group session next Wednesday, please respond in thread, PM me, and/or send me a Skype request.

Hey guys, I just wanted to give a few updates on the study session for this Wednesday. For anyone else that is interested in joining, please download both Mikogo and Team Viewer. It looks like we are going to have more than 10 people in this week's session, and since there are participant limits, I will need to use both programs for everyone to view my screen.

Shoot me a PM or request on Skype and I will be sure to add you to the group this week. And if you need help with testing out these programs before the session, just let me know

Hey, it's that time again for our weekly group SNG session. It will be on Wednesday, May 25th at 12:00pm EST. I was away for a wedding since Thursday, so I would usually post this info before the weekend.

Just to recap, over the past 3 weeks, here is what we have covered (contact me if you would like the content from the previous sessions. I am still working on compressing the video recordings so that the files do not take 20+ hrs to download):

May 4th: ICM and push/fold
May 11th: Post Flop play in the early and mid game
May 18th: Full SNG game review

This week, we are going to do hand history review on Common SNG Scenarios. Types of hands and scenarios that will be included are:

. 3-bet ranges: What range and how much?
. Push/Fold Scenarios
. Playing against limpers: When to shove over top and with what range
. Playing tricky hands preflop and post flop (ie. JJ preflop in early game facing a raise)
. Playing AK at different stages
. Appropriate times to make marginal calls
. Bubble Play as the medium stack
. etc, etc, etc....

There are tons of different scenarios that pop up daily which cause us trouble. This session will be used to address these difficult, yet common situations. So, if you have a hand and would like to analyze how to play it, please send it to me for review. If you like, I will keep your name anonymous and replace it with HERO.

Please send me a Skype request if you would like to participate in this week's group session.

Hey everyone, it's time for our weekly group session updates. First thing, there is a deviation from our normal day. Instead of Wednesday, I need to have the session on Thursday. But it will be at the same time, 12:00pm EST/GMT-5.

After last session, in which we went through some extensive hand history review, the group consensus for the upcoming topic was to talk about the mental game. Just as important as actual game play strategy, the mental side of the game can have a profound effect on your overall success as a poker player. So we are going to address issues such as dealing with tilt, variance, bankroll management, and everything else that has to do with the mental side of poker. Essentially, we will discuss tips and strategies for combating the emotions that come with bad beats, running bad, playing bad, and handling your bankroll. I am certainly not an expert when it comes to the mental side of poker, but early in my poker career, I certainly did not handle my emotions very well. However, after applying certain strategies, I was finally able to overcome the daily ups and downs and as a result, I saw more consistent wins and quite simply, was a lot happier when playing. So I will be sharing what worked for me and hopefully it will help you as wel.

I know that, of those who will be participating in this sessions, some handle these mental game issues very well, while others continue to struggle. So for the session, if there are specific things you do to keep your emotions in check to handle the daily variance, please share your tips for the group. In addition, if you are struggling with the mental part of the game, you are not alone. It will be very helpful for you to share your experiences and the specifc struggles that you are trying to overcome so that we can all try to help.

As usual, I will be using Skype for this session along with Team Viewer and/or Mikogo. If you need help setting any of these programs up, let me know and we can do a test run. Please send me a Skype request if you are interested in attending.
