hey mate, i play the 1.2$ sngs myself when things don't work in my cash games, i find them relaxing and very very fishy to be honest with you, i sometimes play 9 at a time, if you have your ABC poker set up good you are not going to get in much trouble (i would like to mention that 6 max is different from 9 handed, you have to play a little more hands).
as for the heads up game, personally i like to raise very other from small blind, with like 70% of my hands, because post flop you are in position and this is very important because you can decide what to do after your opponent acts.
in a heads-up game you should not wait for monster hands, that's the weakness of you game, because there are just 2 players often nobody will hit anything, or when you hit 1 pair, even if it's the smallest, most of the time it will be the best hand, so in an unraised pot you should bet every time to try to pick up the pot. this is why i say you should raise in position, you opponent will miss very often and you can just take it down with a continuation bet, especially at this level, ofc when you move up to higher levels people with 3bet with air but for now this will work.
the basic is that you have to slowly chip off you opponent till the moment when he has 2 make a stupid move because he is running out of time and chips.
there is a lot to talk about heads-up game, for example this strategy won't work if your opponent is a very loose aggressive player, but from what i played at this level most players are loose passive aka calling stations, they will often fallow you to the river with an A in his hand.
