I am very new to poker but i am picking it up fast. I am getting to the final table in a 27 man SNG stake 7$ (60-70%) with a very tight playstyle at the early stages, but when i get to the last 5 people even with a chip lead i feel myself getting outplayed very often. I know its brief but any advice on what your playstyle should be like on the final table. when someone shoves after the flop when roughly 30% of my chips in the pot and i havent hit regardless of whether i think he has hit or not i find it hard to call, this happens often. for example, on the button i raise to 1k with blinds 200/400 with jack, queen suited, villian calls. when the flop comes in ace, 4, 8. Rainbow. is it right to fold? maybe a bad example but, ultimatly i am struggling with the last 5 players.

Its good that you getting to the final table. In your example, you have to know your opponents and how they are playing and what the stack sizes are. Is everyone around 20-30bbs and what is your stack usually. If you end up getting short, you need to find your spots be aggressive. If you have a lot of chips, its still ok to be tight.

I dont know how much knowledge you have, but with experience and going on forums you'll become a lot better.

its very common that there are always the same guys playing, so it is very helpful to take notes how they are playing, are they fishes/stones/sharks, loose or tight or even limper....In the end you can pretty good say here i have to check it down here i have to 3bet or i have to fold....

Gl on the tables may seeing each other ;)

Aggression pays at that stage. If you're in the final 5 of a 27 player SNG, you've already cashed, so don't be afraid to go for the win with aggression. Raising with JQs is the right move, as was folding when you get a caller and an Ace hit the flop.

Raise preflop when you get a playable hand. Shove if you get a premium or even group II hand. Fold to other players that raise preflop unless you have a strong holding.

Aim for first but don't be afraid of cashing in position #5.

+1...learn from your opponets, see what they are doing to win and emulate it yourself..aggression is what it takes to win the whole damn thing. good luck to you

This is interesting. You shouldn't ever be in a situation where you put 30% of your stack in preflop and fold. If someone raises into you and it costs 30% of your stack to call, you must shove or fold (barring very specific situations that I won't discuss here). Similarly, if you are open raising for 30% of your stack you should shove all your chips in preflop instead.

Just study, study, study and everything will come.

Do not be scared to go for the win when at the final table, use position more aggressively, punish the limper's, open your range a tad more. Better to lose being aggressive than being blinded down.

I completely agree. In most all cases if I am calling off 30 percent of my stack pre there are not many flops I will not shove unless I have some sort of soul read. And I agree even more with jamming pre and not calling and re evaluating.
