If I am first to enter the pot, I always raise.

so I'll either fold or raise a hand like 55 in early position.

If somebody else has already limped or made a small raise, then I'll call along if stacks are deep enough to justify set mining.

In a 9 handed mtt i generally prefer folding small pairs in early position unless i am at table full of passive players, then i don't mind either limping or even raising even from early position.

If in middle to late position i prefer calling a small raise or just calling if one or two players before me have limped. still i am often hesitant to open action with a small pair if everyone before me has made a fold so again i often prefer folding small pairs even in middle position.

If in the blinds definitely calling most raises here stack size permitting.

If in the button then mostly calling to set mine or a rare 3bet to isolate a passive player.

SET Mining..always.
I usually will probably get raised if I just limp in this spot, so it's always a usually raise for me in early.
If I get re raised I'll usually fold.
Depends on the raise size.
For example, I raised pocket 4's from early position when blinds were 60/120 and get 3-bet from small blind to 180 -_-
Such an easy call obviously. I end up hitting a set on the flop and end up winning against pocket jacks.
SO yes set mine if you have a chance ! :D

If you have more 50BB , its fine limp from UTG low pairs, if your stack less 40BB better fold this hands...
About postflop, if not get set , dont try bluff, better fold,,,

If I am the first to act or bet im always gonna at least min raise with any pair. And then of course i usually cont. bet ( depending on how low my pair is and what the board looks like)And of course if i hit the set im hoping my opponent or opponents have hit a pair or two.But we do lose with sets so we have to act with caution if there is a possible flush or strait out there.

unless short stacked, set mining is usually worth it.

Why not just make your standard raise size smaller so that you have odds to call a 3bet?

For instance if you min raise to 2.0 or 2.5bbs then usually the reraise will be between 4.5-7.0 bbs. If you open raise to 3bbs then the reraise will usually be 8-10bbs and you may have to fold...

I noticed I made a mistake by not saying that I min raised in early for 240 and that I got 3- bet to 280 rather than 180 . silly me
Yes I understand your approach, and I do play it like you would.
I find that it makes more sense to min raise than making it 3x BB or more.
You get the same amount of information with a standard min, in my opinion.

Usually I fold likewise but other times I call or even raise depending on table
dynamics, villains, stacks, etc.

It really depends on many factors if you want to play it or not.

Nice question . Most players that I have run into like to over value them mid to small pocket pairs. I guess I do not understand why you would be more aggressive late with them and not early . Early you have the lose and speculative hand players making mistakes by calling . Late game you have smarter players and they are going to call your raises with better hands and not speculative hands preflop. If they continue playing after the flop they more then likely have you beat.
I think what your looking for is a flop to keep them from playing beyond the flop late in the game. Plus they will tighten up too. Making it good spots to take down limped pots and blinds uncontested . If they call you preflop and then a small board comes you may get them to pay more just because they may think you have missed too , which is a good way to get more chips :)
I would just have a mix of betting and limping with them mid to low pocket pairs and keep them guessing .

Good Skill at the Tables

The way you play depends of your position. Basically early positions you fold, middle/later positions then you can make a raise or a call. Make sure you have position during the hand and play it carefully or you will lose tons of chips if you overvalue that kind of hand.

this happens but 10-10 or J-J makes you like a 60+ chance for victory
