Guys/Gals:
I know its situation dependent but "in general:) " what do you think when your opponent makes a small Bet on River-
To me it usually signifies not much of a holding:confused: . I even may consider pushing in?
What do you think?

As you say, it's very individual from situation to situation, especially on what your opponent did on flop and turn. But generally speaking, I'd say it usually means that he or she either has made what's likely the best hand and now wants you to reraise, or that he or she is pretending to have such a hand and wants you to fold. If the buy-in level is really low it could also just be a standard bet, but he or she does't really know how much people usually bet :)

If someone bets small or min bets throughout the hand, it generally means they don't really know how to bet so chances are, they have a mediocre hand.

If it's a big pot and they bet small on the river, chances are they have a relatively strong hand where they are trying to get you to call or maybe even bluff raise them.

Some people say that people at some of the middle levels do this as a bluff but I've never really seen it at the lower levels.

The question is very general.Did you raise before the flop somebody else did how many opponents your position? However generally speaking if you show weakness on fourth street, and you gave away a free card your opponent will automatically bet on the river no matter what they have or what the last card was.Now it becomes necessary to call even with a A high.

well ya, see if you check the whole time, and then he bets minimum. may have small pair, may have KJ and totally missed. but I've seen more recently a lot of people betting small and then going all in, some sort of new strategy, since everyone generally assumes when you bet the minimum you dont have much.

to add on to my other post..I forgot to say if I have any pair I usually call the end for a minimum bet, usually worth it. but if the pot is small and you dont really have anything, why bother raising? risking too much to win too little in my opinion, but it's situational.
