Slowplaying is a tactic thet increases the amount of money that you can win in the pot.It is an acceptable practice, and there is nothing illegal about it.
Slowplaying is playing a hand weakly when in fact it is extremely strong. The way to do it is to check instead of betting, call if a bet is made or even make a small bet yourself. Never raise, just reel them in

"To play slow or to slow play. That is the question".

Two different things.
Although, to play slow can also be used as an effective technique to either piss ppl off making them more aggressive wich clouds anyones judgement or just to gain them extra positions hoping to get closer to the money...

It's not bad to slowplay sometimes, but if you think that your opponent is on a draw you shouldn't be slowplaying.

Also to add to OP, don't get slow play confused with slow roll. Slow roll is when you have the nuts, or a really good hand, and take more time than is needed to show your hand once you've won. It makes the loser believe he has won with his hand since you haven't shown your cards yet at showdown.

I personally don't like to slow play very much, there is a high risk/reward factor. You see people asking why they always lose with AA, and a lot of the times they tried to slow play it, allowing their opponent to have odds to hit their hand, or hit it for cheap.

I used very much, Sorry friends the ones who doesn`t enjoy it, but I like it, helps me make the rights moves. When rush I have a tendencie to commite much more mistakes and play by instict.

When i get the Tilt on my game and I wish to recover I use the slow play: Or near of the Bubbles when I`m short.

When they do it with me in the same circunstances, I respect that and I like it. Slow Play is also good to control the table.

Sometimes I use it , but only in that cases when I'm sure that I have the best hand and this hand couldn't be degraded with any card in turn or river. From my perspective it's a dangerous play.

Yes it is a good tactik, but only if you take more risks in game, you will earn more.

If you use slowplaying you must be sure that you have very strong combination and your opponents can not win you. And if you opponents is colling station you have not use slowplaying.

Yesterday I played a typical slowplay of mine against an aggressive player on a MTT . He was very aggresive after the pot and called or raised every preflop hand. With AA in my hand I just called his preflop raise and ckecked the A-K-7 flop. Check called his bet after the turn showed a K. At this point I had A-K full and raised after river. I think he was totally confused because called my bet :) After this play he went on tilt and made allin preflop in every round, and was knocked out shortly by another players.

There are many strategies in poker, this is a good one to use in the right situations of course (i.e. when you have the nuts, against aggro players).

But as an aside, I'd like to make a statement that I think some people get confused upon. Sometimes people say slow playing in some circumstances can be rude or disrespectful. The ONLY time it's disrespectful is when you have the nuts and your opponent(s) are ALL IN.

The other night I seen a player slowplay AA twice from the cutoff, both times getting cracked by the BB who beat him with 52os and J7os.

as a rule i rarely slow play any hand there are certain times that it can be very profitable just as there are times when it wont end well-the key for me is knowing the difference between the two

Slow play is a very nice strategy, it allows you to trap many players and they had the potential to become a big stack plus if some top pairs show in, like A, K, Q when you are holding the Nuts.
Some people confused slow play with limping and I am glad they keep confused. :)
