There are times to slow play and times to just build the pot. You have to take into consideration the player, if he is tight or aggressive. I have no problems slow playing if you know you will get paid off more in the long run. This guy was obviously going no where since there was only one hand that beat him and you had it. You did everything right in this hand, and he was mad because you got paid off...

Theres nothing wrong with your play but the right definition is slowrolling not slowplaying.

Joe777.. I did not think slow rolling came into play here since it was not done. If you read the way it went down Marty did everything right no slow rolling, I believe he was talking about slow playing.. The villian was mad because Marty trapped him, there was no intention of tanking or doing anything other than calling.. MArty hope you do realize the difference and what you said was correct..

Yeah, I think there is some confusion between slowplaying and slowrolling. Not just in this thread, but with novices in general.

What you did, Marty, was slowplay (aka setting a trap). Slowrolling is when you obviously have the best hand and take forever to show just to torture your opponent. I have absolutely no problem with slowplaying. Slowrolling, on the other hand, is pretty frowned upon.

Well you are right,it is slowplaying,i misread the post.Slowrolling is when someone with a better nut took time till the last possible moment to show the winning hand just to irritate the opponent.

usually slow playing is bad sicne htey can hit there hand often, and if you have a hand you may dont get the value u should have from it.
But slowplaying can be good for your part when you're chasing a draw etc.
