Just wondering if people size their opening raise based on the number of callers pre flop. Say you hold AK in late position and you are thinking of opening if everyone folds to you for 2.5 BB, if instead there are 3 callers before you do you bump up your raise size? I have heard you should add an extra BB for every caller. What do people think?

Yes you must do that every time no matter the type of game you are playing. Raise bigger If there are people who limped already.
Also look at everyone's stack before doing anything so you won't be in odd situations vs medium stacks.

I change my raising ranges and sizing based on the number of callers. If everyone is limping and I want to raise, I will usually make a pot size bet. Pot Size = 3x the last bet + all the other money in the pot. So if there are three limpers then it would be 3BB + 1BB + 1BB + .5BB (Small Blind) + 1BB (Big Bling) = 6.5 BB. If I am out of position I would add .5 BB. I would limp behind some hands that I would normally raise if they paly well multi-way or if the blinds are aggressive and I know they will try and punish the limpers.
