Sitting out the whole tournament

Just wondering if there is any strategy for sitting out. For the free roll some times people sitting out can do better then must player in the tournament. Wondering if for poker school are the getting points for sitting out, would that be a strategy for getting points when you don't fell like playing ?

if you have lets say 10 bbs and the money is near and just want a mid cash than you can sit out.. but i would not reccomend it at any point playing

may sitting down strategy is good to hold or increase point and position but i dont like that strategy... i play until someone kick me out.. its freeroll the place to learn and pratice for me..

don't think sitting out is a strategy myself,playing makes more sense ,yup you can get donked out or outdrawn ,you can also double or triple up,i have never been a fan of sitting out

there is no sense play or not play.....not juste sit out....

No good reason to sit out unless you are on tilt and need to regroup. Otherwise you are not doing what you should be doing every time. WIN the tournament.

When I play the GTD freerolls on Sports Betting, I sit out for the first 55 minutes after the game starts. Then join back in before the break starts and take the cheap rebuy + add-on option.

well id rather play than sit out..im not gonna do anything half azz

when you type a certain number of points, then your stack is no longer allowed to sit and score points, will on the contrary, you will sit back and lose points, so this tactic does not work on the race!

When u play a tournament u have to play with the ideea of wining it...if u have cards u play them....in satelits if u are a HUGE stack and 99% u have the ticket is ok to sit out,but in my opinion its lame to sit out just to make a min cash in...you play a BB 2,20 and u get 2$ back,its useless in my opinion but....every player have his own strategy,maibe for some works.

Only if you're a weak player and want to "cheat" a way in. Don't be lazy. There are times to sit out but not the whole tournament.

Sitting out will lead to bad habits. I once asked a pro if I should sit out in the 1st position knowing that there were only 20 left and that is the advice I was given. In other words if the cards are there, play them!

I do not think it's a good idea, but being honest ... I've played it like this a few times, examples:

-Open league (intelipoker) ... is a regularity game, if I have little time is double my chips, I leave.In addition to being the most loaded environment of bads, rs!
I tired of falling there A / A or Q / Q versus 9/6 or 4/2

-Other situations were mentioned by friends in previous posts, such as satellites.

I once made it into a high-stakes tournament and within the tournament and in the situation that the game presented itself to me, I did it again to bubble

Totally agree with you)This is the only time when you can go to sit out.But very often I see people(not only in freerolls),who only got into ITM,immediately go into sit-out(even with a big stack),it's just called fear of waste of chips))of Such candidates should be immediately labeled in green)))

no, sitting out is never a good strategy not even in a satelite in which you have enough chips to win, because in that spot you should fold almost every hand and when you are in bb if you are sitting out any player can steal your blinds however if you are playing villains might fold their hands and you can win some chips without playing.

How is sitting out cheating?

In a sit out impossible winning game.
It's not a good tactic

I wont sit out , unless I've gone to restroom or something, but I will stall + fold almost everything . You never know when a big pocket pair will come your way . Deep finishes in tourneys leads to the real payoffs, and the stronger players know they might bust at the bubble trying to accumulate chips . Its psychologically difficult , but cant always be avoided .

why not just try to get better at poker

Sitting out means you aren't setting yourself up for later stages of the game. You need a decent stack for later on.

Exactly, and also sitting out in the big blind gives other players the incentive to just steal it with atc, especially if it folded to them on the button, as they will only have to worry about one player acting after them.

sitting out serves no purpose, and if playing PSO league ,ur likely to loose points if its a 10k field,other then that why even enter,,people that do this vare just taking away someone's else chance to play. i have no use for players that do this
