You will miss a lot if you sit out.

You should continue accumulating chips to prepare at the later stage.

Thanks for your reply. I noticed that people will come back after the bubble. This might be the reason that they will be sure to be in the itm. I agree on your advice.

I've seen players do that, and to them it may be the thing to do to win, but for me, if I can't win with the skill I have then it's just not my day. I have never sit out even if it would probably get me to the final table. Besides, there has to be an element of fun getting to first place. Would it be as meaningful if you sit out to get there?

I agree with you Papa C. Thanks for your advice. I like this "I can't win with the skill I have then it's just not my day".

I think sitting out is the worst thing people can do. Are we here to just get itm, or are we here to try to take it down for the big win? Me personally, I will always go for the big win, yea i still feel accomplished when I make it past the bubble, but I still have a long climb ahead of me.

I never sit out but I like to gauge the table. Some table are filled with tight players that just want to cash. Those are the ones you get aggressive with.
If there is crazy stuff going on I may tighten up but cash or not if there is an opportunity on the table I will take it.

If getting ITM is your goal, you most likely are playing way beyond appropriate BRM levels. Regarding skill, playing when it matters is one of the best ways to improve.

The only time I sat out was when I desperately needed to go the bathroom.

You could use your position to exploit weakness on the table, no need to sit out.

No, of course not. There is no reason at all to deny yourself the opportunity to get dealt a very strong hand if you're still going to be paying blinds and antes regardless. You can just fold any and all hands you don't want to play.

If I recall correctly, even the pokerstars website talks about how silly this is as a tactic right in their game rules.

It depends. If I'm short stacked I never leave. If my stacks decent I might walk away to go to the kitchen or something, otherwise I'm playing. If its a big buy in I wont leave till break

You should never do that, you could put some pressure on small stacks and you could easily be dealt a strong hand like Dunning already mentioned, cause bubble play could last very long. Generally, how you play on bubble depends on size of your bankroll, ofc, so if you have only a few bucks, the most likely is that you going to play super tight that's for sure...According to Poker School, you should always aim to reach at least a final table, so being super tight on bubble would probably bring you very few or no chances at all for that.

Say no to sitting out unless you have to go to the bathroom or etc.

You could try and get cooperative play going on with the nonsitouts. The longer you keep the non-sitout players in then the sitouts will blind down and it serves them right for not having the sense to play. It's just a suggestion although I have no idea how viable it may be.

Is this in a freeroll or a buyin because for me it does make a difference.
If it is a buyin I will never sit out but if it is a freeroll, especially the Pokerstars privilege freeroll it does make sense due to the payout structure. It is literally nickels and dimes but if your goal is to build a bankroll without commiting your own money nickels and dimes count.

Personally i think not.. You want to end in the top 3 to get the big money. Near the bubble is the time to build your stack and join the FT with a huge stack.
Lets say the buy in is 30$ and you min cash is $40. I didn't register to make a 10$ profit. So i will still go for it and build my stack up the closer we are getting to the FT.

In general, sitting out to make sure you cash is a poor strategy. It's "penny wise, pound foolish". It increases the probability you'll cash, but because of the way payout tables are structured, it decreases your EV.

Hello all. Thanks for your replies. I saw this regularly at freerolls and sometimes @micro MTTs. I also see this @micro SNGs. Anyway, I agree with all of you. Sitting out should not be an option. Cheers!
