That's just horrible advice. The medium stacks at the table are going to be playing uber tight trying to make the money before they are willing to get their stacks in, the small stacks have nothing to lose. You WANT the small stacks to stick around as they are the only thing allowing you to continue picking on the medium stacks. There are many times where I've been chip leader with 4 left and its folded to me in the small blind and I will actually fold a good hand if the small stack is in the BB because I want that threat still there and I can continue to acquire most of the remaining chips from the middle stacks so that I have most of the chips on the table once the bubble finally does burst.
You are trying to put yourself in the best possible position to WIN the tournament, not trying to knock out small stacks and get in the money.
