Hello everybody.

I am relatively new as Pokerplayer. I play Poker approximately since 2 years and see me as a beginner. I made expiriences with cash game and tournaments. I prefer tournaments. Sure, one have to play for a long time and have to achieve against many opponents but in cash game I lost much money during less time. So I mostly play tournament. My question is: what do you mean, is it a good idea to sit out a time during a tournament ? Because I often had the problem, that I won a good stack in the beginning and was ranked at a good place in the money. But later I lost many chips or was out because of bad beats for example. I thought to me if I would have been sitting out I still could have my stack and came back if many other players would have been out. Is that a good idea ? What is your expirience, if you have ? Thanks for answer.

You're being results oriented thinking that way. If you build up a decent stack early in an MTT, you should be looking to keep building on it. It's very unlikely that your chip stack is large enough that you can sit out and even make it into the money.

The only times that it makes sense to "sit out" in a tournament are some very rare spots on the money bubble.

Hey, bud!

If you secure a strong chip that could make the final table then that's great. But, I don't think there is much benefit to sitting out. You don't have to be the "Big Stack Bully" if you don't want to. Just play tighter and keep pots small. Nothing good will come of you sitting out, missing hands and giving away blinds.

Ok, that makes sense to me. I have to learn to calm down a little bit and stay on the tight strategy. Sometimes I call or bet where I should not and I know this but so I loose chips. I have to be more patient.

If you sit out, the rising blinds will vanish your money soon. Stay in, be careful and attack!

If u put sit out u can loose some good hand, loose information of some players, we need to observe the players and take some notes, to help us in the future..., i don't recomend that...
But u need to play always, u need to be confident, bad beats makes part of the game and we need to know how to deal with that....Just play tigh-agressive!

the tournament is going to last for many hours anyway. If your in a rush and cant be patient to wait for strong hands, the only thing that you will accomplish is to lose your huge stack.

Patience is the number one most important thing in tournaments.

If ur not patient, and cannot be patient FOR MANY HOURS IN A ROW, then tournaments are not for you.

I dont see any sense to sit out with big stack. You enter to tourney, because to want to win, play carefull, bad beats happens :)

You should try to continuously build your stack, not sit out and just hope you get in the money. This way, you can make even more profit.

Even if you manage to make a big stack early in the tournament, do not relax and make stupid mistakes. The less a person stays in the tournament, the less fish you get. And get a strong blow in the middle stages of the tournament is very simple). especially if you lose vigilance in hopes of your big stack. Very soon he becomes small)

that in my opinion is begginning players problem, get a big stack at the first levels and start to spew them because they have more than the average, just play like you havent doubled up and everything will be fine

In freerolls I sometimes lose too many chips , and to get to the prize zone just playing for time , and played only a very good hole cards . In general, you can wait a turbo tournament for 45 players. But it is easier to do it with a stack of at least 2 times higher than the starting

If you have bad beats and bad hands you can sit out and after 10 to 15 min you can sit in and you loose less money then you will by playing but if you sit out you can be dealt AK AA and if you sit out that hand will be folded

Sitting out only makes sense if you need to use the restroom.

I'm not a fan of sitting out unless you are being called by our nature like pooping or pee. Otherwise play.

Even if close to the bubble you should not sit out. Sitting out makes no sense at all. Just sit there and stall hard if you really want to make it itm.

You should keep playing, don't go sit out because you could have many good hands to play, that's what i do after winning a big pot,i keep playing. Alternatevely, you could play only big hands like big pocket pairs or A Q pr higher.

Why sitout?

Have to maximize things.

Missing good hands, observing the table and exploiting the fishes would be absent if you sitout.

I can see going super tight on the bubble, but sitting out just loses you chips. If players know you are out, they will automatically raise and take your blinds every time. Play tight in those situations, but everywhere else you should be looking to improve your stack.
