Make good
hands, go awl eeeen.
In all seriousness:
1) A pat jack is a favorite over a 1 card draw, so position is crazy important (because you can see if your opponent draws, and stand pat with hands you might break like a 2357J for example.)
2) Draw smooth to hands that can't make straights. 2347K is a much better hand than 3456Q
3) Snow once in a while with hands like 2233K when your opponents have a weak range. "Snowing" means
bluffing. So if you had 2223X on the button, and your opponent raised from the cutoff, 3-bet him, stand pat, and bet the river.
