Do you see side bets like the way to win some money, or to loose it? real money, play money, no matter.

I don't see the sense in making a bet with play money. Yes, it is way to make or lose money.

Side bets? That's a pretty wide field of possible meanings.

As related to poker, the only side bet I will partake in, from time to time, is bubble boy. For two reasons.

1. It helps the bubble pop faster when you know that even bubble boy will get something. You can play a little looser
2. It takes the sting out of being bubble boy.

Does it make me money? no. But it does help move the game along, which does make me money.

In my case, loose it, hahaha. I have tried it a couple of times while playing the 9 max games, lost each time.

I generally am not a fan of side bets, its just something else for me to keep track of. The juice from trying to get paid a small amount of money is often not worth the squeeze.

Yeah, i agree with you, i don't really see the point in side bets. When i saw side bets for the first time, it was also a bit confusing, that there is offered sth like this.

If you're talking about the side bets that some casinos offer where you can bet on the flop color being red or black, I stay away because there is a vig (premium) they charge on these bets.

If it is just between friends then the odds will be fair but I still avoid it because it takes away from my focus on the main game which should be my main source of income.

The only time as a pro I would want to engage in a sidebet, is if the player I'm making the bet with will be more distracted from it than I would thereby giving me an edge or net gain.

Some people like the extra action and gamble but personally I find the less gamble I have the better I do, because the less gamble, the more focus I have on simply playing well.

And playing well generates profits!!!

I loved doing side bets during home games. Games where never serious and side bets just added to the fun.
