Should you wait till it's your turn to make a move?

Is it ok to click on what you are going to do before it's your turn to act? Whether it's check, min-raise, or fold should you or do you ever do it?

I see no real harm in clicking fold before it is your turn. I'm not sure you're giving away any useful information there.

With other moves, you have to be careful that you aren't developing patterns of 'pre-clicking' in certain situations.

With that said, sometimes you can convince another player you are strong by immediately calling or raising their bets.

In other words, like most other things in poker - it depends.

Yes, recommend acting till to you and recommend that waiting certain a mount of time, like 15 second or so to click either fold or raise or check.

Not only online but also play live poker.

because time tell is a big part in poker. By doing this - act like a robot, you are doing best to eliminate the time tell.
PS: and make sure that all your move is the same even with sitting style when involving in a hand.

I virtually always pre-click the fold pre-flop if I know I'm not playing a hand, it makes no difference at all whether you do this or not because you're folding anyway. Post-flop, I never use the pre-clicks at all.

I think timing tells are pretty unreliable online, because somebody that looks like he's tanking could just be in big hands on multiple tables or have a slow connection.

That said, you could certainly pull off something like pre-clicking the check button post-flop in position if you flopped the stone cold nuts, and you think you won't get any action because of the board texture. Some may interpret that as you having given up on the hand and they might try to bluff on later streets.

Keep in mind that this is perceived by the other players as an instant move when action gets to you. An insta-check or insta-bet can be a giveaway. For example, If I am in a pot and the flop and/or turn is insta checked, I just might bet with any two, figuring the person has nothing and wants to get to a cheap showdown. I get more folds than calls, making it profitable. Also, if someone is insta-betting each street, I might just raise with any two, as some players just bet with nothing until they get played back at.
It doesn't always work, but it's something to think about.:)

In both live and online games, I try to avoid using the auto-act button once I'm in a hand voluntarily due to the timing tells that other responders mention.

However, I see no problem in clicking auto-fold and/or folding very quickly (in live games) when you have yet to put a single chip in the pot in that particular hand.

That said, be very careful about "telegraphing" your action in a live casino game. If the people ahead you can see you're ready to fold (classic: standing up waiting for the action to be yours so you can throw your hand away and go to the bathroom) tells other players when they can raise to clear the field.

Wow Michael. I always do this including the insta-betting. Good read. I'll always remember this. Thank you so much! Cheers!

I only pre-click when im gonna go ahead and fold. If im in late position and I have a crap hand, but only 1 person in front of me, or no people at all, dont call the BB, I will call and try to steal the blinds later, as long as no one raises preflop.

I am a fan if you know what you are going to do then yes you can click the button of what you want. check/fold call any or anything else. The only down fall of this is if the action all folds to you and it is just in the blinds now you gave away a chance to steal blinds, depending on what level blinds are it could make a difference. Overall there is nothing wrong with pre clicking anything.
