This post is about live games for myself.

So, I play maybe 3 times a week, usually wednesday nights because the casino does a $1/$2 table, then Thursday and Friday on the $2/$5, sometimes I would go back on a Saturday, but usually take a few days off after Friday.

I played tonight however in my first live tourney, came 51st out of 185ish players.
So average 3-4 times a week, is this too much? Just right? Not enough?

I understand its different for everyone, especially since people who do this for a living are there almost 7 days a week.

But just curious as to peoples thoughts on this. I feel 3-4 days is a good amount, ample rest time in between sessions if you tilt or have a downswing or whatever, however I could easily go 7 days a week, but worried I'd wear myself out.

For me, I play when I'm in the mood. If it's Wed. night and you don't feel like it, your play is probably not going to be at it's best. However in between I would also be studying with books and videos.

I think this is enough but if there is an opportunity to play more then why not.

If I were closer to the Casino, I would probably be playing more, But everyday? Probably not. I usually play on line cash games on line most days. Too easy to get in and out. Tourneys online less, though

I believe that if you are serious you should apply some form of poker daily with a good mix of live play (i.e. you play Wed and 2 other days) On the other 4 days there should be some form of study, either reading, talking in forums, videos and/or replaying your hands. if you are fine just being a casual player then your present schedule is perfect. Poker should be fun whether or not you are a serious or casual player, so only do what is fun for you. If that's 2-3 days of live play only then enjoy whatever variance happens and look forward to the next opportunity win. I have to do something in poker six days a week for me to feel happy with my efforts, but I'm a grinder and have the desire to be a serious and profitable player part-time. I work, have a family, and 1 to 2 other hobbies, but I make time for developing my skills daily. Balance, discipline and learning should be your focus daily. Having those 3 areas covered will dictate how often you decide to play :)

At some point you will need to address this question;

Are you independently wealthy?

I know for a fact that if I won the lottery I would become a regular fixture at several casinos.

Even though it's real easy to get caught up in playing everyday online, and most days I do, but how I'm feeling or running determinds how long I play. If I played no matter what, I would lose my BR in no time. So you just have to set it all to suit yourself.

if you'll play a everyday, you might lose interest and start playing without attention.
I advise 3-4 times a week

Live 3 or 4 times a week certainly seems like a lot of poker, if it's just a hobby. Trying to improve & build a bankroll, I would think online would be a more practical way to go. Volume of hands you can play & study online is so much greater.

If I had a casino nearby I'd play permanently but it's just a dream in this country.

THinking about myself, there were times when i was daily into the live poker places. Verry important thing, if you doing that for living , you should have more oportunities like this (2-3 places for alternatives) do not become boring. And you must go there when you feel the freesh fishes :D. In other days when you don't have big online events.

If you're kind of recreational player, just take 2days/week and go live, the other days use for online or just doing anything else. Livee your life!!!

If I had a casino nearby I'd play permanently but it's just a dream in this country.
Where are you from alexis?

I been playing everyday. i been making a final table everyday for the last week. i can say, the more you put into it, the more easier itll get. I been more focused on just trying to play my best, rather than try to make the best out of a play.

I play everyday, but on-line. I dont have to drive to the casino, but can just sit down and play. I usually only play for an hour or two, then go do something else for a while. This is not as easy to do when you are playing live. Also, I find the stakes to be higher at a casino, so you need about $100 to sit down, where-as online, my total bankroll is $100 and I sit down with $5 - $10.
Finally, I should mention that I do it as a hobby, with my bankroll balance showing my "Score". Generally, I am a positive player, but it is rare that I make a withdrawal.

I aim to play every day, but have to make allowances for if I'm too tired or feeling unwell or if I can't be sure of having at least an hour or two of uninterrupted time. So usually it works out that I play about three or four days a week. Mood is an important factor as well, so if you've just had an argument with your wife etc it's better not to play!

I wish I could play every day. Real life is kicking me in the ass.

Oh the days of being single with no job. :(
---
On the rare chance that I can play for an extended time period, I just log off if I start getting bored. Bored = it's time for me to start making stupid plays for entertaiment.
