I'm going to tell you a story.
Once upon a time I sat down at a 1/2 cash game where the buy in was 100 dollars. It was brand new table so all the players were coming in at the same time. Right off the bat a guy in middle position proceeded to go all in on the first hand. I knew EXACTLY what he was doing and that he had nothing in his had. I don't remember what I had but I do know it was better than what he had. I wanted to call his all in so bad, just to show him that I was aware of what he was attempting to do, and that it wasnt going to work on me at least. However I was in college at the time, and had been on a bit of a losing streak and the losses were starting to affect me harder and harder. So I had to be very careful as I only had one buy in for the night. So I folded, as did everyone else at the table. When it finally gets back around to the raiser, he grins, flips over 93 off and says, "this is too easy." He then proceeded to bully the table the rest of the night, and I couldnt do anything about it because I had to be cautious with my limited bankroll. Had I called his initial all in would I have won? Would that have made him settle down his wild play? Would he be hesitant to get into pots with me specifically? I'll never know, but one thing I do know is I was not satisfied with my timid cautious play from the start and through out the rest of the night. The most important thing in poker is to make the right decision at the time regardless of the outcome or potential effects to your bankroll.
P.S. I ended up losing that session anyway.
