1/2NL cash game

Hero has A 7
Calls $10 bet pre-flop

Flop is A7X
V1 bets $50
Hero calls.

Turn is 7
(Hero has full house)
V1 bets $50
Hero raises $100
V1 folds.

I immediately realized I should have slow played, right?
If I just called the $50 again,
I could have gotten another $50 on the river, or raised then.

I would have slow played it myself....i mean, the villain was on a betting spree until you reraised....probably would have pulled another $100 out of him if you just let him dig his own grave (probably would have bet another $100 or more on the river.

I know, I really wish I could do that hand over.
I think I panicked and just wanted the pot.
He would have bet $50 at a minimum and I could have gone all in on the river.
Would have been perfectly played.
I'm not sure what I was afraid of.

One more question. When he bet the turn, when I had just made the boat,
is it bad form or poor etiquette to pretend to hesitate for a few seconds, in order to represent weakness? (To set up an all in on the river). Is that considered foul play? What is "Hollywooding" or some other thing that people say it totally unsportsmanline?

I don't personally think thats distasteful, it is just part of the game. It is just live bluffing. You are trying to represent a different hand than what you have seems perfectly fine to me.

Regarding your topic, I would have smooth called his bet then re-popped him if they bet on the river if I still thought I could have the nuts.

Hi !

I would say that by just calling you could have made him Raise of 50, but I think that you were thinking about getting it AI after the River and you were sure that he is gonna Fold to AI after the River, so therefore you ReRaised him..or?

I would definitely do the same with that ReRaise > and if he just call I would bet like 175 after the River as in my opinion he had something like AKo, or AQs...

Anyway, goo Luck @TAbles !

yes calling was definitely the best play there since you have a boat. had you called there was a chance of making more money at the river. However your raise scared him away, yup there was no need for it.

The best part of this is that you're looking at your past hands and asking yourself and others for feedback. That is a good ingredient towards improving your poker skills long-term.

I understand the momentary panic, especially when playing online, and wanting to take the pot down right there. As suggested, a slow-play would have extracted some more chips for you most likely, but be happy that you scored a pot and next time you can play it another way if it seems appropriate.

Don't worry about check-raising or grandstanding being called out as Hollywooding. You have to think of poker as a war on the table. And your job is to be victorious.

Slow play here is the best move, cause your oppenemet have made the same raise on the flop and on the turn, that means that he have an ace with a decent kicker , your move ( raising on the turn ) will afraid him and let him fold.

The best move for raise over this boat is a 3bet raise on the river.

Cash game right?
Have to maximize your hand.
You have the second nuts and he is the one being aggressive.
Your hand is way ahead so why bother the waters?

Yea, I put him on Ax, and figured he could end up with boat on the last card.
It was an early hand, and I panicked and was happy with taking down the pot right there. Plus, I reacted to his out of position betting, and wanted to counter back at him. I still wish I let him keep betting on river, and then went all in on him.

Raising is fine to get value out of the high aces. If he's got nothing, he's gonna chk/fold the river anyhow.
