earlier this week I was playing low no limit hold em table. I do not remember the exact cards on the table but it played out something like this.
I had a Ace and another facecard off-suit I raised to make some of the limpers fold. The board had 2 cards same suit. I had raised before the turn and my ace high straight hit on the turn. one was left and I was acting before him. He kept calling my bets and the pot was at a decent amount. Comes the river card and he beats me with a flush.....

Should I have folded?
Did i play the hand correctly?
I was raising with the intentions of making him fold.

Low NLH, everyone is chasing the flush. I would suggest when you hit your str8 that you deny him the odds to river his flush, but he won't be concerned with odds.

Not sure there was anything that would have worked, but shoving might have....:(

I basically was going all in. Maybe I should have shoved on the turn.

Exactly DJ, realizing a flush is "possible" with the flop of 2 of same suit, your high straight may be VERY vulnerable if you allow them to continue in the hand. A 1/2 pot or pot sized bet by you will likely be called.

You likely have the best hand with A to 10 cards at this point and thus "anything less than an all-in bet" after the flop is likely to be called by him, thus putting you in a 'bad decision position' with the turn or river card. I suggest an "All-in" for you after the flop to make him fold and not fish for his flush draw.

A "check" followed by an "all-in" re-raise if he made a small bet 'after the flop' may well have been even better. A "re-raise" seems to send a 'much bigger' message to your opponent.

Yea looking back at it, I should have been more cautious with him drawing flush and been more aggressive after the flop instead of just worrying about increasing the pot size thank you guys for your input.

I shove the fold there so that if they call you can maximize value if they don't hit their draw. I think of it like this. If u make a small raise on the turn they call, and you know they miss their draw u will be unable to get value out of ur straight. But if they call u on the turn when u are all in, and they miss the river. You will be payed off quite heftily. I like the all in on the turn here
