Well repeating a question doesnt make it any clearer... Something tells me that you dont know what the long term/short term means... What you could do "short term" is to learn what are +ev spots and what plays are -ev, knowing that and recognizing it in a single hand will help you making good decisions and halp you have a good result long term... If you wanna more than this you could explain whats your definition of short term...

Wasnt trying to repeat it .

Looking at the short term play ( the right now play ) what can a player work on that will help his long term play ?

I hear players say keep playing that way it is good long term. But when your losing money do you just keep doing that and nor work on getting that part of your game in a more money making area ?

Yea i see what ya mean now, its basically what i said in a post above, try to put the money in a spots where the odds will be best, i love to take the calculation after a hand and see does the outcome positive or negative, you can find example of doing it in a thread in this section, or you can look at some of those i did in a thread in my sig. If putting the ev math is not what youre looking for then doing basic pot odds hand odds is what you should look, for example, calling with a draw FD, oesd, gutshot, combo all have different chances to hit and need different pot odds to justify the call, always calling in favor of odds make you playing the hand good long term regardles to the outcome...

In both the short term and the long term need to learn every day something new, and of course, patience and luck. Without this, nowhere.

The goal is always to improve your decision-making. If you do something repeatedly that has a negative outcome over a large enough sample size to draw at least tentative conclusions, then you might want to consider the possibility that you're applying whatever it is sub-optimally and/or in situations where you shouldn't.

I often hear people say this when you've made the correct play but still lost the hand. For example, suppose you think (correctly) that your opponent is on a draw, and so you bet so that he doesn't have pot odds to make a call (but opponent calls anyway). If he makes his draw, then you will lose this hand. In the long run, your opponent will loose money, and you will win money, BUT in this hand you lost the pot.

So, to win long term, you must analyze the plays that you did, and decide if in the long term they will be profitable, rather than worry about short term loss.

There is no such thing as short term in poker. Only playing about 10k hands or more you can make some sort of analysis based on your results. I guess in the short term you can use a calculator like the odds calculator on this site (it's "Odds Calculator" in the top bar) to see what % chance you had to win a certain situation and compare it to the pot odds. If your chance to win is bigger than the amount of chips you called with compared to the pot it's winning in the long term. Also you can always read up on the math and different betting strategies and there are just so many resources you can do that in.
