Hi all,

Can any of you share your insight on how to got to the money in free rolls? I've done a few so far and it seems incredibly random. Regular play does not seem to work so well when there are so many players who shove all in constantly. Also playing strong cards can backfire too on the river. Was lucky to survive a 4 way pot with my AA but I can see that going wrong...

So, any secrets or it's just play strong cards, never bluff and fingers crossed?

Thanks guys!

In freerolls, players are often indifferent to the outcome of the game, they play to have fun. So I prefer to play with good cards.

In tournaments, your chances of winning at significantly low depending on the number of overall entrants. On ACR, there are around 500 to up to 1.2k entrees in their on demand freerolls. With 1.2k entrees, your chances of winning reduce significantly.

I finally won my first freeroll not too long ago: https://instagram.com/p/BgUdFTRnBJM/

What I learned from playing so many free rolls is that you just have to have a good strategy down and survive as long as you can. There are different stages within tournaments and your stack size relative to blinds and what stage you’re at can really influence what is a +/- EV play.

There’s an article I would highly recommend reading, which was actually provided by CardsChat :) they have a lot of articles in regard to tournament play.

There is even an article regarding freerolls as well.

Good luck on the felt!

The secret is patience and a little bit of luck. Got to be patient and wait for good hands and spots to play. Got to be a little bit lucky that you do not get coolered or take a bad beat.

Loads of threads with info here on cardchat take a look around I am sure you will find some helpful materials.

1. Play only good starting hands.
2. Make big raises and big bets more, than in a normal game.
3. If you have a good combination, - bet, bet and bet again.
4. If you have nothing, well, nothing can be done. Don't try to bluff.

I do not know how to be able to win freerolls, or who does not take risks and plays as they think. I often got into prizes, sometimes I played at the final table but I didn't win freerolls with a lot of players.I think it is connected with luck:)

Play tight. Premium hands only, or try to flop a set if you can see a flop cheaply as there's usually a lot of limping.

Don't try to bluff. People will call your correct bluffs if they have 92o with AKQJ2 board.

I usually play tight first half of tournaments then try to open up my game after that . The beginning of tournaments is all about survival .

There is no secret, no special, detailed strategy for freerolls. You can achieve success even basic competitive strategy. Play premium hands, have a regular stack size, and do not bluff.
After that, you just have to be lucky.:)
The real challenge for freerolls is the high number of players and the irrational play of players. XD

Yep, the more I do I realise this too. Managing to survive longer by playing smart and not risk needlessly. The only problem is that people catch on if I play too tight and fold, so my stack size is not growing as fast. Think I'm close to make the money bubble soon.

in the freeroll there are too many players it is best not to risk much at the beginning of the tournament because it is when the BINGO PLAYERS AND THE FISH PLAYS AND MULTICUTS come into action going allin with any hand to collect chips

I don't have many secrets I don't think.

I play my hand to the best of my ability and try not to get sucked out on. Someone mentioned that people don't care because it's a freeroll and they're not buying in, so that plays a little effect on my game and I tend to overbet and see if I can catch some people off guard but that's about it.

Hope this helps :)

I'm starting to think that being too tight is not good. Have had so many marginal hands folded that became monsters and so many premiums that got busted on the river... I'm playing tight, surviving the first 30 mins or so and the average stack is 10k more than mine. Got to play more hands but then I'm never lucky. The randomness is getting to me a bit...

I had this problem of never reaching the money on freerolls, then I joined cards chat and actually adhered to the advice that I got from experienced players, it worked for me. Play only premium hands and when you play them be really aggressive, NEVER try to bluff.I recently started to be in the money, four out of five times. best advice you can get you will find here in this group.

Freeroll secrets

I’ve placed in the money quite a few times over the years... and I would have to say every time I have it was playing strong hands and doing it aggressively... keep in mind there are a lot of donkeys out there that play just about anything... good luck with them

if you want to win in freeroll. do not hurry. watch some time for. the players. there are a lot of donkeys from which you can double. Very often very strong starting hands are not played. Alin is not a variant of winning in freeroll. pick nuts and kill donkeys. good luck.

Really depends on the number of players. I haven't played the CC freerolls in a while (took a break from it all) it the most 'pro'-ish freeroll I've played in. If it's hyper or even turbo with 5k+ players.. it turns to bingo really fast.

In my opinion, there are no secrets.
There are two key components :
1. Patience.
2. Discipline.
If you have these two factors, and you play a lot of freerolls, you will definitely make money in the future.

in frrerolls that many players enter the best thing is not to play the first minutes of madness where all go alllin, in most players who do that are multi accounts

If someone shares his secrets its ceases to be a secret anymore! ....and loses relevance in the game against those who know it. So, dont believe in every secret you read or hear. :top:
