So, I have a pretty basic question about draws on the flop. I mean I pretty often have a flush draw or an open ended straight draw on the flop and every single time I struggle between raising or just calling and hope to hit my draw.
I know you can not answer this question generally valid but in which situations does it make more sense to semi-bluff and when should you rather just call ?

Of course this depends on your position, the number of players in your hand and the board in generell. I usually prefer to semi bluff weak flush draws like 56s while I mainly just call Ace High Flush draws.
I'm looking forward to read some interesting opinions.

Usually c-betting out of position with semi bluffs or calling in position with flush draws. However, in order for you to be successful with not turning flush draws, you may want to barrel majority turns out of position.

avoid the temptations to chase, maybe on the button call to take a peek. Chasing is a good way to become the short stack

The problem is most casual players don't play by the rules. They'll pre-flop raise a K6 off suit or an A2. So, if you are sitting at a nine player table, and 2-3 of these players make boneheaded plays like this then you are going to quickly eat into your stack playing for draws.

You must play the odds. If you have suited hole cards, you only have a .8% chance of flopping a flush (1 in ever 118). Draws are not as strong as people make them out to be, especially gut straight draws which are generally in the 5% odds range.

@papier... respectfully...
Refreshing yourself on pot vs hand odds should answer your question... as well as SPR...

Yes indeed, that's something I recommend for sure. Then you also know when to let the hand go.

But to answer your question you should mix in a bit of both to balance out. If you only do 1 thing in a specific situation, players might be able to figure out if you don't do that that you haven't got let's say an Ace high flush draw.

Good luck mate ^^

I know how pot odds work and obviosly I don't call with a flush draw on the turn when someone bets more than the pot and has not much behind.
I would rather know when raising a c-bet with a flush draw/open ended straight draw makes more sense than calling provided the pot odds are right in order to loose less money by chasing draws.

I try to mix it up in order to balance my range and be less predictable.

I think this is very situational, if you're heads up and got a chance to knock the other person out to win an MTT or similar than the rewards for c bet continuing may be worth it. If it's just a cash game / mid MTT play id be more likely to pass and move on to the next hand.

I like to counts odds, if I have 15 outs, I will make an agressive semi bluff because I have more probability for win, this way If I complete my draw, I win a lot of chips, if not, I can retire any time

I calculate the range of the opponent, and after that, if for favorable, you with flush draws it is worth the pain to check out position. So in case the opponent increases, you 3BET. I really like this play
