hey , this is my first message here
Ive been reading here a lot and its been really helpful so good to be here!

anyways , I recently dropped down to 5nl 6max after I was grinding for about 2 months in 10nl and had a terrible downswing

after inspecting some of the data on PT I have realized that ALL my loses were in the SB and BB position . on every other position at the table I had a really nice profit .
So, obviously Im doing something wrong .

I think I lose because I basically hate losing in a heads up "battle". because most of the times I think my opponent missed I stick around or try to bluff to much and therefore getting stacked.
Im not saying im a loose player , but I do loosen up at these spots . basically my range in the SB is the same range as the button and when someone calls my I usually cbet .
and when I call in the BB and someone cbets I usually call :\

how do you play these positions ?

thanks

I hate giving nitty advice like "tighten up" or "fold more," but sometimes that's the right advice. Sometimes you just need to accept that your opponent has a hand and give up the pot. Also, everyone loses from the blinds, the key is to win enough from the other positions AND to lose as little as possible from the blinds. So just because you're winning from the other positions doesn't mean you don't need to work on them too.

I wouldn't assign a range and never vary from it for any position. The cards your opponents play should affect which ones you play. I would try playing tighter in the small blind and looser in the BB, BTN, and CO to start. But pay attention to villains tendencies and exploit them.

It is no big deal as long as you win more in other positions that you lose in blinds... I dont have tracker but most of the screenshot i saw showed that bind position are -$...

If you just think about blinds and their position on the table you can realize that blinds play every hand post flop out of the position, only time you are in position when you are in blinds is bb vs sb battle... First thing that you need to realize is that people don't bluff that much as we think, so don't blew your money away just because you are to proud to fold, of course if you have some info on your opponent you can exploit someones to high vpip or c-bet post flop but i think that if you just tighten your bb and sb range like lets say utg you lose less money, to that you can add some 3-bets to re steal every now or then and i think it will show profit

First off, were you ever winning at nl10, and if so, for how big a sample before your downswing began? Also, how many hands did your downswing last before you dropped back down?

What I'm wondering is whether you were like other players I've seen who moved up and lost more than necessary because they didn't drop back until their BRs got too small to stay.

As for your SB and BB results, what are your vpip and pfr from these positions, and how do they compare with other positions / overall? As others have said, you should be losing money from these seats, but given you lost enough to make you a loser overall, the most likely reason is that you're playing too many hands and/or too large pots with modest hands and usually OOP.

The larger your skill advantage over your opponents, the more you can defend your blinds. However, unless you have proof that you were a solid winner before your downswing began, and also know that you stil played well during it, the obvious course of action would seem to be to defend less.

Play them as if you weren't in the blind, just ignore the fact that you already have a small amount in. Are your cards strong?

Play tighter & watch the blind cards more carefully especially until you get a feel for other players.

With sb and bb you're playing out of position because of this you win less hands. Play strong hands if you do not hit, do not play.
