Cash seems more complicated when you switch from tournaments. Play freerolls, play-chips cash, learn, till you "have a good time" in them. And after that carefully try playing real money.

I would actually disagree with the above if your are already familiar with the basic concepts. I do not think you will learn much more than that in these freerolls.

You would be better off starting with a $20 dollar deposit (look at it like an investment in your training) and playing micro (2NL) 9 handed cash games while studying the game, playing only one table and practice paying real close attention to opponents, their playing style, range, your own range, your own style, bet sizing etc etc. After this you can then look at moving to 6max to gain more experience in your post flop play and apply the knowledge you have already built up to a looser more aggressive format. But this is just my opinion.

Definitely stick to the freerolls if you have been having a bad time ! Trouble with freerolls is you can toss any books you have read out of the window because people there do not play in the predictable and orthodox way that books and videos coach... But the plus side to this is, If you can do well in freerolls and avoid early bustouts and make ITMs and Final tables etc... Then you have probably learnt an awful lot ! Then when you play for higher stakes, You will find that people play less crazy, wild and unpredictable...

Sharks like to roam cash tables looking for easy pickings ! There is specialist software out there for cash tables that seeks out fish ! I know ! I tried a trial version once and the only fish it identified was me !
