Hello everyone!

I had a big timeout from poker (around two years), and as i remember, many times my friends while sitting next to me while i played, repeatadly said, sometimes even argueing with themselves, you are like a Rock, or you play to Loose. Does anyone knows how and when i should adjust my play style?

Someone told me that it depends on how big is my stack, or how big are the stacks on the table. Also, aggresive ore loose play style should be done regarding your position via BB. Any sugestions?

As you pointed out, there are a lot of factors that will determine tight, like a rock, or loose. Overall, if you are a newer player, it's recommended that you generally play tighter and not get into too many hands that could lead to difficult decisions.

One suggestion as to switching between tight or loose is to adjust based on the play of your opponents. If you are playing against a table full of tight "rocks", you can steal blinds and limped bets by playing looser and raising to get folds.

Position is very important to your style. If you are on the button, you can be more aggressive, and get opponents with marginal hands to fold. You need to recognize when your opponent has a hand and be prepared to fold once you come up against it.

I suggest you try out different things until you find out what style of play is the one that works best for you. Having experience with both styles is very very important to be successful. But more importantly, IMO, is being adaptable. Whatever the situation calls for, that's what you have to do (or be). For example, if the table is playing very loose-Aggressive, the best strategy is often to tighten up. While if the table is very tight, then the opposite is best. I recommend to stick to the Triple Threat: Position, Aggression and Selection...

The hands you play from different positions are often influenced by stack sizes, field competition, and your experience (meaning how good you play postflop). Again, position is very important. As is aggression.
