Good Evening all,
I am at a crossroads here on what to play as a plan to make some decent cash (I would be happy with $1k a month!) and wanted some outside input.
In real life, I live in Vegas and I usually go to local casinos and play $1/$2 NLHE or sometimes Fixed if not a lot of NL players on tables... I usually go in with $200 and after all is said and done, come out 80% of the time in the positive revenue... usually near doubling up most the times. I find this EXTREMELY different than online play... I have attempted employing the same strategy and play the same online... but there is always some lucky fish running around and ruins the day... what I am trying to say is online is wayyy more LAG than live play as most of you all know.
As some of you may know, I was recently incarcerated for 6 months in Clark County Detention Center here in Vegas... I won't go into it, but just put it as this, I have a problem with handling my alcohol as I get excessive when I drink. Being around it for me... well, I know I should not be around it... for a councilor once stated that if you do not put yourself in a situation where the drug is available, then you won't have to worry about breaking down and doing that drug (alcohol). Well, being in a casino setting with people teeming around drinking and being offered a drink every ten minutes is not going to work for me... I can say I do not want to touch it... but the distraction I know would throw off my game.
Now to the point of the post... I am adapting, once again, to online play... I find myself always on the Merge Network... now leaning towards BCP. I am fairly good at small field MTT's and love the 45 man SNG's as I tend to finish ITM 7/10 times. I like playing Super Turbo HU $2 games.. but I do not believe my BR is large enough for that at this moment as I have read suggested buy-in's should be at least 50. I am currently working with a BR of $60 ought dollars and have been entering into the 45 man SNG's $2 and slowly grinding my way up. (I started with $20 deposit last evening). I have played the DoN games and find myself wanting to pull my teeth out as there is no skill really involved in them.
SO... I would like to focus on SNG's and small field MTT's... I cannot adapt to the cash games online... just gets me heated as I prefer live cash play.
With all of this in mind... what are some suggestion's to keep on trucking and mainly proper BRM... I know this is a must and as I stated earlier in the post... it would be nice to earn somewhere in between $500 and $1k a month playing PART TIME online poker. I consider part time to be oh lets say 3 - 5 hours a day... on days I am not obligated to do much... maybe as much as 8 hours.
I would like INTELLIGENT input on what one should do to achieve this goal... The proper BRM guidelines and any strategy input that would be worthwhile. Should I be looking to play some other games that I am not aware of (or oblivious to)?
Let's start the conversation...
Moe.
Edit: Just to clarify, this is not my only income, nor do I plan on this as my only job... It is more of a supplemental plan to my already existing income.
