When does the re raising freeze? It is my understanding that if the raiser is allin for less than a legal raise, then the raising is stopped for that round of betting.

Do I have it right?

Also, if there's a 3rd party in the hand who has had their bet raised prior to the all-in raise, that player and only that player can then re-open the betting.

Ex : Player A raises, Player B re-raises, Player C goes all-in for less than a legal raise. Since Player A's initial bet was raised, he is the only player who has the option now to re-open the betting.

From what I understand it's half to be actionable. So say there are 3 players, A bets $20, B calls, C raises all-in to $30, A can now re-raise (or B if A just flat calls). But if C only had $9 behind, the raise would not be actionable and A and B would simply get the options to call or fold.

Ok, now I'm confused again. (Doesn't take much) Since 1/2x raise isn't usually legal in a NL situation, I don't quite understand. Could you guys maybe provide some references for your assertions?

^ dealing live, this is what I've been taught to enforce. By two different former casino pit bosses.

BUT

The TDA rule is different - it states that if the bet is less than a full raise then betting won't be re-opened for players who have already acted. Rule 10 of pokertda rules.

So a couple of scenarios based on that:

- After the flop, A bets $20, B calls and C shoves all-in for $30 total. A and B can either call or fold: they can't raise, because C's shove is for less than the minimum.

- After the flop, A bets $20, B shoves all-in for $30. C can call, raise or fold, because he hasn't acted yet. If C just calls (or folds), A can only flat call B's shove. If C raises, then action is re-opened to A again, and he can four-bet if he so pleases.

- After the flop, A bets $20, B calls and C shoves all-in for $42. A can now call, fold, or raise because the shove was above the minimum, and B can react accordingly.

And this ^^^^ would basically have been my answer as well. As far as I know, the 1/2 bet rule to reopen betting is only applicable to LIMIT games.
