Dumb dumb dumb all the way through this hand from me. I was getting annoyed with Dusty as he played every hand with me the same, bet, raise, and raise all in. It threw me off my game, I should have noticed that even though i made trips on the flop i should have bet there because of the hearts, also when I bet on the turn i was too damn excited about trapping dusty to notice that he deviated from his usual format, instead of reraising me all in, he just raised again to 1000, right away i should have realized that he wanted me to call, and he had a big hand...

So yes very donk play from me... my raise preflop was nothing big because I wanted it to seem obvious to Dusty that I was on a similar hand that he's beaten me on before by going all in...

Well four (five? cant remember) people are sitting out, because its the USA freeroll so we're basically 5 handed, also I knew Dusty was playing loose but if he had something like 52o i didnt want to scare him out of the pot with one caller and one 3xBB raiser in front of him, it was definitely not the correct way to play the hand though.

I usually like to raise the same amount preflop regardless of what cards I raise with, usually 3.5 - 4BBs. If you min. raise, and he calls you with crap. You won't get anything more out of him anyway if he misses the flop. So with a larger preflop raise, at least you would win more if he was stupid enough to call preflop. And it also helps to reduce the chance of getting burned by low card straights (if he folds say two low cards that he would have called a small raise with).

If you raised to 700 or so, BB may fold and UTG may call ya anyway, since he's getting better than 2:1.

(Although, some punks will call with ANY suited cards short of 5 BBs raises at least, so the BB may have called anyway)

And definitely don't check the set on the flop with 2 others in the pot.

Actually i think i mentioned that he was playing really loose, i would raise him with top pair but he would just go all in and take it down, in 4 out of 5 of the hands we played he did this, which is what i was planning on him to do this time but he actually picked up a hand and the deviation from his normal play was too subtle for me to see until after the pot was over. but my mistakes were numerous in this hand, and the preflop raise was just one of them :(.
