Do you find the early, middle and late position references given in most poker books useful when you are starting playing?. Can you remember all the various starting hands, the number of players and whether to call raise or fold, or do you sit with reams of paper to help you through the maze?

hi. I don't use any outside aids when I'm playing, but when I do hand reviews I check against standard ranges and see where I may be a little off. After a while it becomes close to second nature. Those references are just a guide though, you have to alter your ranges based on how the individual players are playing.
