Hell, I'm new to the site and poker generally.

I've ordered books based off aliengenius's thread 7 years ago

https://www.cardschat.com/f49/first-poker-books-86485/

I've only ordered Getting Started in Holdem and Little Green Book so far. I was just wondering if anything has changed in the past 7 years that might have changed that list. Or not. :D Thanks for reading.

I doubt that. The books that are older have more value to the game, but if you want to keep studying you will come to the actual day that you will have to order something new, like Negreanu's book or something, not that it is that new, just an example. Just because the book is old doesnt mean it is less valuable, so its okay for you.
If you have any other questions regarding Poker, we'd be happy to help you. If you are just starting I can find some useful information for you online for you to read, but if you are just starting the information will be a little overwhelming, so , one step at a time. Being good at math helps, its just a hint, you dont need a professional at it, but calculating fast is kind of important when you are advancing with the game.
And it just came to my mind - if anything is actually changed it would be a book for online poker, because it is pretty different from playing live tournaments or cash games.

Most poker books date very quickly.Jonathan Little has written a set of very educative tournament books.
The Little Gold Book is a good follow up to the Green.
For a newbie I would recommend you try the Poker School on Stars. You could also check out the Poker Bank, lots of good free stuff there.

Okay thanks for the advice. Hmm yes, I just literally only know how to play, have made about $10 this morning though, just watching Durrr videos on Youtube seems to have helped immensely, the guy has balls! Haha, I'm an engineering student at a top 10 uni in the UK, so I think in terms of applied maths I'm pretty sharp. It's encouraging these books are all still relevant though, I just wanted to makes sure, thanks. :)

Thanks :) Although I feel what you've said contradicts the above poster a little. Yepp, I have atleast 4 of the colour books to read, can't remember the author name haha. Okay thanks, I'll check it out :) Yeah I've just gathered resources so far. I've fallen in love with the actual playing pretty fast, accumulated around 30 hours in 3 days. But my poker society friends told me I need to read up on the game a lot to improve properly.

Are you playing live or online ? For me, the best education for online poker is a couple of the sites mentioned above, plus you might check out some of the poker academies. And poker videos are a great asset, as they are current. Best of luck ;)

Online, but there are cash games around campus a few times a week, so I might check those out. Nothing major but yeah, mainly just pokerstars. :3

As a beginner or near-beginner, you can largely ignore posts that say poker has changed a lot over the years. It has changed, but not equally at all levels. The least change has been at the lowest levels, where learning to play decent TAG poker is still enough to be profitable, and still the best way to build a solid foundation upon which to build your game to move up.

I suggest Harrington on Holdem for MTT play. It's not for complete beginners, but even if it's a bit advanced for you right now, you only have to move a fairly short distance along your learning curve before it's suitable.
