The old saying: "The only reason to bet is to get better hands to fold or worse hands to call". That is actually not right. What you want is to for opponents to call or fold (or raise) incorrectly. For example, if you are 4:1 fav, and you make a bet that gives your opponent 6:1, you would want him to FOLD (even though you have the best hand).

Erm maybe I've still got a fuzzy head from too many beers last night but why would you want the worse hand to fold? You want to get maximum value from the situation.
