I personally never open limp with any hand I intend to play. I may over limp in pos. with marginal hands like 76s or something like that, but if I am first to enter I always come in for a raise. The reason for this is because I can rep a lot of hands post flop with a raise that I really can't with a limp.
Lets say I hold 44 in early position and I raise and get one caller and the flop is A T 3 rainbow. I can make a c bet and expect to take the pot down there very often as the ace is a big part of my early position opening range, and is not in a calling range as much. Even if he called with a weak ace and calls my c bet I can still barrel a ton of turn cards that puts a lot of pressure on a weak ace. If I open limp this line will not be as affective. in my opinion.
If you are new to poker, I recommend a starting hand chart, it will tell you what hands to play from what position. Then as you get better and hand reading and playing post flop you can open up your game.
hope this helps with your question and gl at the tables.
