My original title but too long:
Cardchat! I came for the Freerolls, I stayed because of the members!
Like many in this forum, I have been playing poker for 10+ years . While I read a book or two I never really took it seriously nor did I play so consistently as I do now. Work took up 60+ hours of my week for more than 10 years and when the shit hit the fan in 2006-08 I backed off of online play for years opting solely for the casino's (mohegan and foxwoods) and private games when I could find the time to play.
I thought I was good, I would find out later that I was just deluding myself . my overall casino play I have broken even give or take $100. I estimate that I put roughly 6k into casino play over the years and managed to convince myself I was good since I was not really down. The reality I simply managed to not completely suck.
What I find interesting is that as my understanding of the game and the intricacies of online play improve, my overall view on my performance (though it has improved greatly), is that I now see myself more as a beginner than a knowledgeable player.
It's a hell of a journey, and has an interesting reflective aspect of life in general. Looking forward to learning more and progressing, hopefully without a deep slide into the Donk play I so easily gravitate towards.
I am really thankful for the CC forum here. It's filled with some interesting people from all over the world and makes this hobby/pipedream a lot of fun while always teaching me something.
And a big thank you to all the Forum Mods and volunteers
