Can someone please explain what exactly a rail is. I see a part in the forum that says you can join a rail or post a rail. Appreciate it thank you.

rail is to rail a tournament of another player. the "rail" definition wise is the pole separating players and the spectators in a live poker tournament.

You would post a rail if you were deep in a tournament.

i.e.

"1/19 in the Sunday Million!!!!!!!!!"

If I rail someone, I am watching them play. Usually late in a tourney, when that someone is in the money (ITM).

Some people find comfort knowing friends or at least virtual friends are there for moral support and/or to cheer them on. They might post in the rail thread to advertise that they are getting into the exciting part of the tourney. Many many of us will come watch if for no better reason than we are bored. It used to be more fun when we could actually cheer at many of the tables, but that doesn't happen so often since BF.

Not to be confused with being railed or getting sent to the rail - VERY BAD. You just got knocked out.

Very nice place, lol. Cool, thanks for the information. I hear about this so much and yes it is very comforting to know friends are watching you play. I once was in a tournament, think the midnight turbo and turned to a forum and told everyone I was ITM and placed out at top 20 or better. I get replies saying oh we know, we were watching your table. I thought oh how cool, I had no clue.

Thanks all.
