I am currently at a bankroll of $200 and I'm wondering what stake SNGs are best for me to play at?

I'm somewhat experienced as a poker player, just always had poor bankroll management honestly and I want to make this amount last since it was difficult getting. I actually got lucky in a $5 MTT and won $69 with a 5th place finish out of 700, boosting my bankroll from $100 to it's current level.

Anyways, just looking to make the most out of this cash.

Thanks in advance.

Well many people would say MTT 1-2% of your bankroll and no more than 5% on pretty much anything else.

I don't have much room to talk, however, playing at such low percentages helps ensure you wont go bust when you hit a losing streak (I don't have much room to talk becaue I have a horrible habit of not sticking to BRM rules)

Most players are even more conservative than that. (Most seriously players)

What stakes do you have the most experience in? What is your overall winrate over X hands/games at said limits?

The baseline answer you are going to get out of this forum is "$2.20".

That being said, it greatly depends on your winrate at your current level. For example, I am running a 180.1 ROI @ the $2 level (27plr SNG and MTT over the past 11K hands/100 games), and paying with a current online balance (or in-play 'roll) of roughly $200. I could move up, but this is a very comfortable amount to have to play with for me at this level. BUT winrates and comfort levels vary.

If you are only playing one or two every day or so, and winning overall, then you can easily play $2 SNG with your online bankroll. If you have or feel you have better success playing higher and have more to deposit (your not-online roll) then maybe $5 would be an option.

And before anyone else says it, it really just "depends".

i agree with thekaahk, but if your comfortable and happy to play lower, by all means grind the 1$ sngs, as they are profitable if played well

For SnGs you should be looking at having at least 100 buy-ins, so ~$2 sounds good for now, some people would go as high as $5 but if ya have a bad streak you'll know why i said 100 buy-ins

if your starting out i would go 1 dollar to test. then if you feel like it, go to 2 and just grind it.

Definitely no lower than $2+0.20 imo. You don't want to be paying 20% rake at the $1 levels ($1+0.20).

TBH, if you're somewhat experienced in SNGs and the money is replaceable, I'd suggest playing $5+0.50 on a smaller network with less competition than FT (say bodog if you're in the US, or a tonne of options if you're non-US) with a cutoff if your bankroll dips to $150. Also, spend some time researching optimal strategies for the game (ICM and bubble play, for example).

If that happens, go down to the $2+0.20 SNGs. Whatever you do, don't play a $10+1 if you go on a $5 losing streak. Remove everything >$5 from the lobby to help remove the temptation.

Unless you're a pro playing for a living, 100 buy-ins in a bit excessive in my opinion. Just make sure you set specific cutoff level and actually stick to them.

definately dont play the 1 dollar ones, long term theyre basically impossible to win at because of the rake and if you are winning at them you're wasting a huge amount of money because of the stupid amounts of rake there.

I'd agree with this ^

If you're playing on Fulltilt & don't have much experience, I'd actually put a bit of time in playing the 70cent SNG sattys where Top3 win $2.20. It's a cheap way to gain some experience (there's actually some good super micro players in them... mixed in with some REALLY bad freeroll cashers). I've played a handful for fun & was also curious what the play in them would be like (I actualy have a program that tracks stats. & interestingly enough, there'd be 2 sometimes 3 reguarly winning players in them with 200-500games played, making decent profit & high ROI.
Then I'd spend a bit of time on the $2's... & if you're beating them, move up to the $5's. If you start losing, drop back down.
On pokerstars I don't think I'd ever consider playing anything lower than the $3's. (imo the 70cent sng's on Fulltilt are better to play than the $1's on Stars by a longshot).
I don't think you need a zillion buyins if you're a recreational player (2-tabling at the most).
