FOLD! Mostly, don't call 3bets to setmine unless you are deep (like 200bb) or you are up against multiple opponents (at least 2 opponents with 100bb+ stacks) AND your call closes the action.

That last point is relevant in your example because if you call and UTG shoves your fecked :)

thanks, yeah sound advice there man....if i was closing the action on the button would the 3better need to have x20 stack to make it worthwhile to call if i was to do that?

20x call to stack ratio is a good rough guide to use for set-mining.

Lets say we raise 3x to 30c at 10nl and villain 3bets to $1, you need to call 70c so effective stack sizes would need to be $14+ to make set-mining profitable.

I said above you need to be 200bb deep, but thinking about it that's a bit of an exaggeration as in the example I just gave 140bb deep would be sufficient.

OK here's a related question but this time about calling preflop with SCs.

If we want around 20x call to stack ratio for setmining, what kind of call to stack ratio do we want for SCs? Higher than 20x I think but I don't know how much higher.

Previously I would call with 87s from the BB if there was a raise and a caller, but then realized this probably wasn't profitable. I like 3betting them now :)

Assuming everyone has 100BB stacks, when does it become fine to call with them OOP, when there is a raise and 2 callers? And in position is fine to call when there is a raise and 1 caller?

Hmmm one question has turned into several :) I know this will be table dependent etc, but still rough guides can be useful.

Too hard to generalize since there are too many factors the decision depends on.

Neither is profitable.

If you 3bet 87s oop and get at least one caller you're playing a 3bet pot oop and need to donk/check-raise air far too often if you want to keep representing the strong range you did preflop.

Assuming everyone has 100BB stacks, when does it become fine to call with them OOP, when there is a raise and 2 callers? And in position is fine to call when there is a raise and 1 caller?

As said oop they tend to suck.

In position we can sometimes find calls/over-limps vs loose-passive limpers and min-raisers if the blinds are passive aswell.

You say too hard to generalize, but do you agree that you need a greater call to stack ratio than you do for PPs?

I should clarify: I'm 3betting SCs as a bluff vs select villains that steal a lot and fold to 3bets. Flop will dictate whether to cbet or not. It is profitable imo if done right.

Yeah definately higher because in comparison to scs you most often have to see 4 or 5 cards whereas by setmining you only need to see the flop.

3bet bluff oop against villains ready to fold too much ip can be done with atc.

Sure scs are better than atc but to get a better grasp read the thread I linked to ITT.
