This is a phrase that I have read in a poker book.

"Probability is the key to decicision-making in poker"

Do you agree with this?

Well probability and statistics is the key behind making good decisions for long term results, so its hard to disagree with it.

Ability to read players and know how to play the various types of players also plays into the situation as well because knowing the probability of hitting the hand your chasing doesn't always mean when you hit that hand its going to be good which is where the importance of knowing the ranges and narrowing ranges as the hand progresses becomes a big part of making the correct decisions.

The book must be about the important of utilizing the pot odd

and also the implied odd. There is no question about it,probability must be taken

into consideration when making a decision in poker.

Probability how many ways to ask a question that would define a situation or even the word "probability" and its relation to poker when making decisions; the probability of making the best hand, the probability of our opponents folding, the probability of our opponent holding the best hand if we make our hand? These are a few examples. Understanding these questions and the %’s that are attached to this information and then take into consideration pot odds, implied odds etc..; should support bets made, called, check-raised, re-raised, fold, or all-in etc… The more books for information purposes read will let this player understand new information to attach to current information or take out old information and plug in new information. The more levels of relevant information is key to making the proper decision in any given situation. The understanding of making solid short term decisions that will translate into profitable long term decisions is what this player strives to do in every session; as experience mounts and this translates to be less card dependent however, I am still card dependent but I am developing a better balanced game especially, when I choose to play in a leveling situation. Hope your day is going well and loved your question was good information to think about.
