What are the stack sizes, what is your position, what has the action been to you so far, is it a cash game or a tournament, what are the tendencies of the people on your left, etc.

There are way more questions that need answers before we can even start to address the strength differences between these two hands.

These are hands you want to blindside opponents with in cash games. Unlike tournaments, where winning 'too little' is always a thing to consider, in cash games you want to play this as if you're sitting on QJ or K 10. Don't immediate all-in, raise to around 3x (sometimes 4x on looser tables). Those that engage you, if they raise big on the flop may well have KK or AA but if you have instincts based on the amount they are raising that they have a lower pair play passive with them.

Do not fall for the trap of thinking these are autowin hands, they aren't.

Both are good hands, more caution is needed as it is easily overcome by AK.

+1

I play MTTs primarily and how I play these hands differs quite a bit on the factors vinnie's mentioned. Here's an example of an early stage, late position 3b fold with QQ

Given how quiet and tight the villain's played so far this was an easy laydown.

PokerStars - 80/160 Ante 15 NL - Holdem - 8 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: 12.19 BB (VPIP: 15.63, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 32)
Hero (SB): 23.28 BB
BB: 37.09 BB (VPIP: 12.96, PFR: 6.00, 3Bet Preflop: 14.29, Hands: 54)
UTG: 71.29 BB (VPIP: 25.00, PFR: 33.33, 3Bet Preflop: -, Hands: 4)
UTG+1: 11.53 BB (VPIP: 15.79, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 19)
MP: 24.25 BB (VPIP: 33.33, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 3)
MP+1: 4.09 BB (VPIP: 0.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 3)
CO: 7.72 BB (VPIP: 10.34, PFR: 8.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 31)

8 players post ante of 0.09 BB, Hero posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 2.25 BB) Hero has Q Q

fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, BTN calls 1 BB, Hero raises to 4 BB, fold, BTN calls 3 BB

Flop: (9.75 BB, 2 players) K K A
Hero checks, BTN checks

Turn: (9.75 BB, 2 players) 9
Hero bets 1 BB, BTN raises to 6.87 BB, fold

Hero mucks Q Q (Two Pair, Kings and Queens)

BTN wins 11.75 BB

depends on a lot of

but simply to say:

QQ is much better than JJ in most of the cases.

With QQ i go all-in preflop with JJ not cause it's defeated by 3 hands and it's a coinflip with 3 other hands. Too many for me.

Q is higher than J so it's better than J. This is also how to ask for AA and KK .

It's usually depends on you're stack , position , who are u against and more facts , sometimes you go all in with these hands , sometimes you don't

It depends a lot on the circumstances of the game when you get a hand of QQ or JJ, the position on the table, the amount of chips you have, if you are in the bubble zone, etc ... you should consider these factors . But they are usually hands to play all in ...

in deep scenarios i'd go for a raise with both (2.0~3.0x)
if there is any raiser before you, maybe a call can be more guarantee

in short situations its clear all-in

One of the more effective ways of learning to play solid poker is to play a lot of hands. Why do you think either of these hands is an automatic shove? It's called poker not bingo.

i wont go all-in with either hands especially if it will bust me out if i lose it.
Maybe if im the big stack and my stack covers everyone playing the hand, i could go all in.

Jacks get a raise, but not an all-in in early rounds of tournament. Never in a cash game.

I just call for both to see the flop. That are tricky cards. It can easily be killed by A or K. That is why I always see the flop before going all in except on freerolls, then I go all in with either of those.

I'd say if you're on the button and no one else raised or only a few called you can feel better bout going in but maybe try a strong raise instead and just see what happens, then you don't risk it all if they do have pocket A or K but you can still win big if they don't. It's a good hand but I've seen a good amount of players loss with it to a pair of A or K so be cautiously optimistic with it.

It depends on the situation at the table.

There is one more raise and 3bet or 4bet before your action. It's better to fold than to risk throwing away your tournament.
