QQ flushed and some Questions to improve my play!
Hey,
I'm on a tourney, like always, I'm short stacked. So I get dealt QQ, everyone folds except big blind. I make a decent, but not to big raise, so that BB will call. I didn't liked to shove because i only would have won his blind. And then this happens:
PokerStars - $4.10+$0.40|75/150 NL - Holdem - 8 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4
CO: 23.8 BB
Hero (BTN): 11.5 BB
SB: 41.33 BB
BB: 38.77 BB
UTG: 25.15 BB
UTG+1: 101.39 BB
MP: 76.3 BB
MP+1: 43.63 BB
SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB
Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has Q♥ Q♦
fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to 2 BB, fold, BB calls 1 BB
Flop: (4.5 BB, 2 players) 8♣ 9♣ 2♠
BB checks, Hero bets 2 BB, BB calls 2 BB
Turn: (8.5 BB, 2 players) T♣
BB checks, Hero bets 7.5 BB and is all-in, BB calls 7.5 BB
River: (23.5 BB, 2 players) 6♣
BB shows 7♣ 2♣ (Straight Flush, Ten High) (Pre 17%, Flop 52%, Turn 100%)
Hero shows Q♥ Q♦ (One Pair, Queens) (Pre 83%, Flop 48%, Turn 0%)
BB wins 23.5 BB
The flop gets completly against me...but i already dedicated lot of chips in this hand so i'd liked to take the pot down! And yea how could it be else, i get flushed. This happens so often if i have a top pocket pair. What should I do to improve my play? Should I always shove preflop with top pairs, even if I only get one big blind? - I think best play would have been to have shoved after the flop - but BB would have called anyway cause he had the much bigger stack.
Thanks for any advice and opinion.
//PS Why can I only open 3 threads in 24 hours? - Id' also liked to ask if someone has advices not getting short staked in a 180 pokerstars SNG. I play tight and sometimes steal blinds until i get good hand. I go from under average to a bit over average stack and then drop down to a big under average stack 2000 Chips of average 8000 Chips because i always get crap hands like A7o, K2o, 25o... And if I get bit better hand like KJo others make often soo big raises that it would be stupid to play those cards. And once i got AKs in this tournament i was SB and everyone folded, i didn't even raise big(only about 2BB). <-- Maybe someone has advices too for this situation.
//PS2 another question.(Sry that i put so much in this thread). Do you think these 4.50$ Pokerstars 180 players SNG are appropriate to learn playing decent poker? - I think they are good cause they are not turbo(tubro, hyper-turbo and this crap sucks to learn decent poker, in my opinion). And 4.50$ is enough money that most of the players don't play stupid(like in micro 0.02$ and so on) but not too much that you loose a huge amount of your money. Am I right about this?
