Is it possible for someone who hasn't shown the discipline to grind the microstakes without taking shots for an outrageous percentage of their bankroll, to follow a solid bankroll management strategy?

Your question is kind of confusing. If you don't have the discipline, how then can you be expected to follow a solid bankroll management strategy. It all starts with discipline. Without that it really doesn't matter what you do unless you get lucky on one of them spin and go's and it big. Which reminds me, I know of one player in particular who hit a 5 figure payout on a Spin and Go, but last I checked this player was back to grinding 1 dollar Sit and Go's because he/she lost nearly all of the money due to a lack of discipline and poor bankroll strategy. The two go hand in hand.

Make a new start . Begin playing freerolls and building your bankroll, make some rules and keep them , make a plan what games you're gonna play and stay on that plan , don't play anything else more expenssive than you can afford by BRM , you win 10 $ play 1$ dont play 10$ at once , manage your bankroll as you will keeping some profit for games and some for you when you win , when you have a large profit step forward to stakes and expenses , try to insist applying these on action and that way , step by step , following a plan more and more , discipline will come and permanent good results willl come

Without proper bankroll management, you will get nowhere.
Sure you may get lucky and win some big hands and maybe tournaments but then you'll end up playing higher stakes, where the players are more skillful and you'll be left wondering what happened to your bankroll.

Yes, proper bankroll management can be learned. Staying discipline and continuing to grind is where I think things become tricky.

I think bankroll management is my strong point, I am aware of shark scope and want it to look as good as possible, that keeps me playing within my limits plus there are not a lot a great tourneys in my range, so it's not so hard. Old BR management was 100 buy ins.. players now a day play with 20 buy ins. It's Madness! I try to follow the 100 buy in strategy. If you play well there's no harm in playing higher buy in every now and then.

If this is only considered a hobby to you
Bankroll management, If you have to ask then you should probably make up your mind on what you will not feel mad about losing. example in this regard would be, you can spend $5000 on a vacation, you don't feel bad about it because you did pay for what you got.

But to make a long term investment (your time and effort, your cash too to say the least)
I made this my career since 1994 and full time of course, and I am passionate towards it this is my lively hood and how I put a roof over my head and food on the table. I play 500/1000 my bankroll everyday is always the same, my hours are always the same at commerce casino in LA, unfortunately I had to reside to Texas for personal health reasons.

One word is discipline and your attitude when losing or winning, big or small.

There are courses and books about it, you should make a plan and follow it to not destroy your bankroll.

No idea if this actually would work, but something along of these lines might work?:

1. Withdrawal all but leave yourself 3BI in your preferred limit
2. “go to ‘Tools’ > ‘Responsible Gamin’ , and then ‘Restrict Deposit Limit’.” and youself a deposit limit, for example one week, maybe month ;)
3. You should learn fast not to over extend yourself if the punishment is not playing at all.
4. Also you should change deposit limit so that you can only fill yourself to the current level of play.
5. Every time you gain profit withdraw it.
6. Also you should hide the limits too high to show using filters.

Then I guess my question really is do you think that discipline can be something that you learn overtime, or is it something you are born with and if you don't have it you can't be a successful poker player?

Of course yes, there are many articles and books from which we can learn to manage our bankroll and how to play according to our bankroll

In poker is different in each person and while there are people who are looking to get in action on several hands, there are other people who like to play safe and do it only with hands practically made, with the least Possible risk.

If you are one of those that you like to bet a lot, probably your Bankroll needs to be bigger for the same size of bets, especially if you like the risk.

you have to accept rules of poker. Plenty of people win big plenty of them lose it all back or more. Ask yourself why are you playing. Make rules stick to them. I think proper BRM is only way to play unless you can light all the money on fire and not care ever on losing.

u have to start controling urself to stop losing if u are on tilt or sth. If u win something just withdraw it to dont lose it. just dont play if u are on bad streak or tilt cuz u will lose more it wont help
