What is the most difficult problem you encountered in the learning process ?
It is about poker.
For me, the most difficult thing was to learn patiently to wait for a good card.

hard things

I believe the hardest thing so far has been realizing walking away after a big win is okay. Its easy to walk away after a losing hand, but it is equally okay to do so after a big win.

Not to be busy with counting my stack all the time. Also to think less what cards might beat me and more what are my opponents afraid of that might beat them.

The biggest problem in the learning process is laziness! The more you are lazy, the more you blame for something else in your failures, although the problem lies in yourself) For me, the hardest part was to get myself trained every day for several hours, until I realized the importance of this - I lost a lot.:)

For me was to have so much love for the game that I had more patience to "sculpt" the ideal hand, but in times of pressure play very hight with medium hands that I was not accustomed to play; learn loose range, chip control and self-control, and also learn with the opponents of the table.

Good point, I'm going through this now, and I'm happy with my dominant choices; Sometimes good things don't bring us to the real good.

I also had this difficulty in the beginning but the time was passing so I realized some things: I realized that when I had the respect at the table I could open with anything that most of the time I won the pot. It has been so ever since the letters to me are something that really does not matter what matters is opportunity. sometimes I'm called an idiot or think so, but okay, they expect AA KK QQ or AK to me Pay until these hands reach them, I am accumulating chips.

The biggest problem for me was just realizing how much patience and discipline is necessary in all aspects of poker, from practicing proper bankroll management, learning how to fold big hands, accepting that variance is part of the game and avoiding tilt. I used to think, "I have AA, I deserve to win." WRONG. Let's just say I learned the hard way and still have a ways to go.

This thread is a little dated, but I just came across it, and saw this post that made me want to reply anyway.

It seems kind of odd in what I view as a friendly type of self improvement forum when we talk about exploiting other people for our own benefit. I mean - who are these other people that we exploiting?

(Ans) We are.

My main problem with learning is the lack of time for it. I want to play more and win more, and I don't want to spend a lot of time learning and analyzing my hands. of course, it is very important to work on your game, but sometimes it becomes so boring that you have to force yourself.

You can do everything right and fail making losses but also do many things wrong get lucky and succeed in making a profit at poker.
Learning is great and very important especially your composure and strategy on and off the felt but to get those life changing wins luck, rake, variance and the law of large numbers and your opponents are probably well educated too not letting you run over them stealing their pots forcing priced in flips those are the biggest problems in the learning process.

I am not greedy enough to be a really good poker player, I believe that playing for profit
and playing for fun are two totally different attitudes and I see it but I can't be it which is
a weakness for a player imo

For me the hardest part is to understand that I can't apply the tactics and technics that I saw on TV in my NL2 regular games.

A lot of those technics should be applied with someone that truly understand the game. So you can apply the 3rd level thinking. In NL2 most of the opponents do not think about what you could have and adjust their game in reaction.

:)

I agree with everyone who mentioned discipline. It's sooooo difficult for me to not get super bored and either distract myself so much that I don't play effectively, or make reckless plays in a fit of pique just so the game can be exciting at the cost of virtually all efficacy. Most days these days I struggle with trying to even enter a tournament thinking about this! >_<

the most difficult thing for me to learn is the poker math, the pot odds, the equities and all that. I am trying very hard to understand this but it just makes my game worse, i mean i cant understand and it frustrates me that after thinking about the odds and the equities and still you get a bad beat from a lucky player.
Not to mention the limited time you have in making a decision to act.
I have nothing against guys who utilize this methods, but i think im better off being a lucky donkey. Maybe this is why i am still a losing player.... LOL
