I have been thinking about switching my preflop raises from 2x, to 3x to 5x at random.

However, from what I have read and what I have learned from some instructors is to make the same raise always. So its harder for an opponent to put you in a hand.

I guess Im wondering what strategy do you guys think is the most profitable?

You can maintain the standard of 2 ~ 2.5x , but has specific situations you have to adapt .

For example: you have AK and enter 3 players limp before you. In this case it will be Necessary to raise a higher to you play this hand with one player in maximum and protect u AK.

I do the 5x raises in the beginning but when the blinds go up, a 3x raise is necessary, But dont bet the same. Go between 3x and 5x, sometimes, limping in with K10 is beneficial when you're BB and the blinds are huge cause you can have high cards/face cards but only see a 35794 board where someone with 55 or A6 limped in, dont bluff it, just fold.

OR FOLLOW MY RULE: Raise or Fold.

Hey OP,
I was replying to this thread to give you more advice when actually I used my own advice I was going to give you and it worked and I'm gonna show you the hand....

This table has been super highly aggressive (it's play money but its a real money $10 winner take all)

My point was, sometimes you have to take a good hand and just LIMP IN with it so they THINK you don't have a premium hand.

In the example below, I limp in with AQo --- I hope this helps!

I am in BOLD
My winning hand is GREEN
The person who lost against me is in RED

The zoom 4 bet plus-will. The zoom 4 bet plus-will. Through times raise is not bad.

I believe you should play to build your table image. Then, absolutely, mix it up. Keep everyone guessing.

Walt agree with you. There is a player who has been on the flop before deciding what will be the answer to fold, call, re-raise. Sometimes overrated held cards in their hands, no matter how much you called your pre flop. The raise before the flop depends on: situation, chips, opponent, pozícció (how many players are after), etc ....
In my opinion, a strategy must be to find yourself over the years.
* What works with other players in the strategy are not sure it will work for you.
And of course there is the RNG every hand :)

you have to raise as much as you have to , to reach your goal.
It's really situation dependent.

I will normally raise 3X, + 1X for every person calling before me. If I'm CO or BTN and I have one raiser, maybe with one caller after that I will 3-bet. If I have As or Ks I will 3 or 4 bet from anywhere.

I never, Never, NEVER limp with As or Ks. I've experienced too much grief doing that.
